This is a great photo opportunity, if you can position the capitol building under the arch. Just a nice memory of SLC history.

Interesting information posted on the North West side of the gate. Stunning view up the street with the gate framing the mountains.

The Eagle Gate per our guide marks the boundaries of Brigham Young's property from back in the day. In modern times it is close to the entrance of Temple Square.

Located very near the Beehive House and the Lion House, this landmark can be easily seen as one drives or walks the State Street.

Per our Tour Guide at the Beehive House, this landmark shows the beginning of the property or land of B. Young in the old days.

It sits atop a wide street and dares you to drive or walk through it, it’s super cool in a creepy way. I love the dramatic pose it takes.

Straddling a major intersection on S. Temple is this fascinating structure. While this is not the original, it is a replica and stands true to its original form. A plaque at the base of the gate gives an excellent historical background. Best way to see and appreciate the gate is on foot.

Strange to find a gate within downtowns this gate is fairly impressive by the size of the pillars. The black eagle gives a feeling of power. The sculpture of the eagle is extremely well done

In case you'd never seen Eagle Gate before - like me - I think it will have the biggest 'Wow'-effect when walking on South State Street towards North State Street (heading towards the State Capitol).
What I did was actually go and stand on the concrete division in the middle of South State Street in order to get the best possible pictures where the Eagle itself is beautifully centered.
Depending on traffic you may have to show a bit of patience.

Definately something worth seeing!
I also read that the original Eagle (this one's a copy) is being kept at the Pioneer Museum.

Not the original “gate”, but a replacement built in 1960s.

It is supposed to mark the gate of the original estate of Brigham Young.

I wasn’t sure what it was all about but it is dramatic and worthy of a look. Just go east from the Temple area.
