We never tire of the beauty, but we're in danger of loving our canyons to death.

The drive up the canyon is a beautiful drive no matter what time you visit, and there's something to do for just about everyone. Plenty of trails to hike, there are several spots that get a lot of rock climbers, you can find great eats at the Silver Fork lodge and cafe, and of course there's the ski resorts of... More

This is a very nice day trip if you are staying in Salt Lake City summer or winter the climb up is steep and be sure to use a low gear on your way down so you don't overheat your brakes. When your done with Big Cottonwood canyon head up Little Cottonwood Canyon it's just a short drive away and... More

Big Cottonwood Canyon is a short distance from downtown Salt Lake City. The hikes are incredible in the summer and range from beginner to expert. For those interested in fishing, rock climbing, camping, and more — it's all available. A great place to start your adventures would be Donut Falls, an easier hike that is great for the family.

So close to Salt Lake City and worth a quick drive, but be prepared to have a tough time finding a parking spot during the busiest times of the year. Lots of wonderful hikes to choose from, wildlife aplenty and even some great places to eat.

We hiked the Lake Blanche trail - 2.8 miles one way - and were impressed with the alpine scenery and plentiful wildflowers. The hike is moderately uphill and rocky, so be prepared with plenty of water and grit. With so many hikes in the area, we pulled into the large parking lot and just headed up. Much cooler than SLC... This is one of the most beautiful canyons in Utah. It's all green and full of pine trees and aspen trees. They have many picnic areas and several places higher up the canyon you can overnight camp. It has some amazing hikes. From easy to difficult you can find all you want. In this canyon you'll see Solitude Ski Resort.... More

We took the tram to the top at Snowbird - to 11,100 feet above sea level. The scenery is magnificent!

We walked around the lake on a man-made boardwalk that was very easy. My five-year-old boy even wanted more of a challenging hike. Very pretty, and very busy on a hot Saturday. It was nice and pleasant up here compared to the 97 degree valley though. Next time...lake Blanche trail!!

What a beautiful ride up Big Cottonwood! Lots of places to stop, hike & breathe the fresh air. FABULOUS in the FALL! When you get to the top, you can take an easy hike around Silver Lake, sit on some benches & check out the scenery! On the way up or down, stop at The Silver Fork Lodge for a... More
