You go past the paper mill and to the gate of the coast guard station and pull off on the right or left of the road. On one side you see the sun go down and on the other you see the town of Port Angeles. A beautiful way to end the day.

Fine sand, smooth rocks, giant boulders and killer views. Take a picnic lunch and get calm at the beach side.

Excellent views of the city and strait. Depending on the time of year and weather this can be an amazing place to visit because of the inner harbor boat traffic, Coast Guard station and Pilot boats.

We picked up sandwiches and ate watching the sunset. The colors were absolutely gorgeous. There is a feral cat community, so pick up a little extra for the felines.
Watch the ships in the area and take notice of the logs/lumber.
Follow the road through the factory loading zone, towards the Coast Guard station, you are on the correct route, it is a bit confusing.

Great views of the Strait of Juan de Fuca. Good views of the town, especially at night. Lots of cars out there in the evening, perhaps a lovers lane.

This narrow peninsula curves out into the strait that separates the the Olympic Peninsula from Vancouver Island. Large rocks have been added to stabilize this sandy hook and protect the road that extends out to the end of the hook. The inner bay is calm and a good spot to see birds. We saw Canada Geese and heron and gulls. We walked on the sandy strait side and saw large ships and smaller craft cruising by. There are several feral cats living among the boulders. There are also good views of the mountains rising up behind Port Angeles.

If you want a more natural and beautiful setting, visit the Dungeness Spit a bit further to the East. It does not have a road and it is a long hike out to the lighthouse. If you prefer to drive out, the Ediz Hook is an easy trip.

We drove out here from Port Angeles. You pass right through a giant factory so don't let that put you off. There is plenty of parking. You can see ships in the harbor. We watched a group of Canadian geese with their chicks frolicking in the water. There is plenty of drift wood to sit on. We would recommend

Who knew - big waves, cruise ships, fresh salty air? Ediz Hook has it all. Very refreshing place to visit. We watched two cruise ships go into Victoria, a container ship, the ferry to Victoria, bird, waves - amazing! Could have stayed for hours, but we stayed long enough to be invigorated. We'll go back. Again, and again...

This is fun, a brief stop while in Port Angeles, but if your schedule doesn't allow the time to walk the spit, then don't worry too much. We saw quite a few harmless snakes, feral cats, and birds. If you geocache, there's some here too.
