Bruce Bay is a good place to stop and stretch your legs for the journey between the glaciers and Wanaka. There is also a coffee truck here to get your coffee fix. Very strong winds and waves (which is typical of the West Coast) so...More

Loved the beautiful windswept coastline. Wished there were lesser sandflies though. Nice coffee cart around the corner. Try it!

There is a very nice stretch of beach at Bruce Bay along State Highway 6 (Haast Highway). The beach front is beautiful and plenty of spots to stop and enjoy the views. The coast is rather windy and the waves rather high and strong along...More

We will never tire of recommending this tour of the 6 State Highway. The coast of Bruce Bay we can not say if it is the best of this road, but what if we can say that this area for us is unique and that...More

Feel the power of the open sea! There are almost always either big or very big waves. It's a nice 5-10 minutes stop to take a few pictures and stretch legs if you are driving between Wanaka and Franz Josef.

Driving and turning the corner on the highway you see the most amazing sight as the sea suddenly appears. Good parking available at the viewpoint. Can walk down the beach a ways. Be aware though that in stormy conditions the road through this area may...More

We stopped on our way from Haast to the glaciers. The view was spectacular with water glistening under the boiling sunshine. It was surprising and interesting to see the big pile of white rocks (mostly small and smooth) up on the beach, written with lovely...More

We stopped at Bruce bay while driving along the Haast highway on our way to Wanaka from Fox Glacier, just to stretch our legs and admire the sea view. We didn't see many cars stopped here. Probably, like us, most tourists just stopped for a...More

In the middle of nowhere, there is this beacon of coffee delight... A great stop between Haast and Fox Glacier. Great coffee, service and the scenery is spectacular, if somewhat windy. Visit this place for good coffee.
