Nice museum about the local history

Nice to see some history about Murchison. A lot of goldmining info, and all about the 1929 earthquake, wich hit hard in the region.

Support this local small museum. Very nice lady in attendance Nd lots of memorabilia. We must keep these places open and support them so our kids have something to see and enjoy.

A few interesting collections including early telephone exchange, some gold mining information and local memorabilia - well worth a short stop to have a look around.

Like the rest of Murchison a little quaint, but there is a great collection of old surgical instruments!

Small facility run entirely by volunteers. It proudly exhibits the social history of Murchison and in particularly the massive earthquake in 1929. Lots of personal exhibits and life stories that could occupy you for hours. It really shows how the early settlers coped with extreme conditions to establish the community that exists today. One of the best rural museums that... More

Spent hours in here on a rainy day and ended up talking to 2 local ladies volunteering who added to the local information. I was especially interested in the history of the earthquakes in the area. A great way to spend a rainy morning.

It would be easy to overlook this museum, or this town: from the main crossroads the town looks nice enough, with a couple of cafes, a grocery, and a general store. Go into the general store, however, and you find all sorts of merchandise--nothing unique, but all the things a town needs to keep itself going: hardware, tools, some clothing,... More
