If you are in Northland a visit to 90 Mile Beach is a must. We got there almost at low tide and joined local people collecting mussels, which were plentiful. It was slightly overcast but you could see for miles. We last visited 90 Mile...More

Just an amazing location. We visited on a cloudy, rainy day but the expanse of beach and sea was still impressive. Just a couple of people and 1 car way down the beach. Not sure I would try and drive it!

We took a bus tour of this area. One stop was Ninety Mile Beach. Beautiful beach in the far northland of New Zealand. The sand dunes were lovely. My husband and our friends did a boggie board ride down the dunes. You have to climb...More

We enjoyed a couple of days enjoying this beach and watching all the goings on. We learnt that the beach is actually 55 miles but int years gone by they measured the distance that a horse could travel in a day which was thirty miles...More

Looked forward to walking on 90-Mile beach for two years. It did not disappoint. Saw wild horses! Happy we took a tour. Would not have wanted to take a rental car and have a problem. There is nothing but miles of beach with limited access...More

90 mile beach is just amazing- you void your insurance if you drive on here, so good idea to go with a tour- Harrison’s was really good. Otherwise you can park on the gravel road and walk to the beach. Just stunning, a must to...More

Great to be driven down the beach. The tour guide made the experience better as we were in a 4 wheel drive vehicle so could travel much further along the beach than buses.

I know it's not a unique experience because so many people have driven on Ninety Mile Beach but when you're trundling along in your car it sure feels like you're the only one. A 'must' to do when you're in the neighbourhood.

This ninety miles beach literally is a "highway" where cars can run (allowed) up to 100km/h. Probably it is unwise to let the dog free running and playing without leash.

If you are in a hire car, they are not insured for driving on the beach. If you are in your own personal car, then yes you can because it is a public highway. However to access the beach in the north you need to drive up... More

Absolutely. The beach is only usable for a car when low tide, just be careful of soft sand. The beach has few access roads so make sure of your exit or just drive back the same way after visiting beach. Also consider... More
