Arriving to the village you can park in the car park and then take a bus for 5 dollars up to the hill or you can try park around the beach and take a short hike (4 km) to Cathedral Cove. But I would recommend...More

The beach and cove will not disappoint you. However, as beautiful and scenic as the cove was, our experience will always be marred by the arduous walk to and from (signs suggested 45min each way). With two young kids in tow, this was a very...More

I have been to cathedral cove several times now and it doesn't seem to loose its appeal. White sand beach with clear turquoise water, flanked by towering sandstone formations. It's a beautiful place for a picnic or a dip in the sea. One attack on...More

Arguably one of the most beautiful beaches in NZ. Crystal clear green waters that are calm and refreshing.

Beautiful beaches and walk. Takes about 40 mins to walk there but worth it. There are coves to stop at along the way. Good swimming but watch for stinging jellyfish. Downside is lack of washroom facilities - one at parking lot and then no others...More

This is an iconic spot but be prepared if you have small children. On even a mild day (25degC) this was a difficult walk for the kids. It takes about 40 minutes each way from the carpark and is very hilly. On our day there...More

We walked from the car park down at lunchtime, there were plenty of people around but everyone was enjoying the beach and swimming plus view of cathedral cove. Kayaking looked like fun and we might do that another day. The water was warm enough to...More

Fortunately for us the day we had planned to do the walk to Cathedral Cove was the best day that we had since arriving in Auckland. The low tide was scheduled for about midday so we had been advised to arrive anytime from 10am to...More

The walk itself is well paved. At the end, though, is a series of stairs. You'd have to carry the pram/baby down those stairs. But the view is remarkable.

We saw the water taxi arriving at the Cove. I don't remember a jetty for the passengers to disembark. You'd need to check when you drive trough Hahei on your way to the Cove. Sorry this response is going to be too late for... More
