A small crew of people have managed to save this old castle, which was completely abandoned for 25 years and bring it back to a condition where it gives a good idea of what life was like in this part of the world in the...More

The entrance fee is 5CUC and there isn't much to see and if you don't speak Spanish, there isn't much to read. There are a few exhibits but we saw more empty spaces and storages areas. I would, however, suggest taking the boat there from...More

You can go by boat to the castle, but it is a slow boat, with not much shadow. The timetable is not frequently enough so you must wait a long time before you can back. Perhaps the boat from the otherside is better? We took...More

Talk about a spectacular building with amazing views. Cienfuegos is a small town, this needs to be on your must see list.

We took the boat from town. Had second thoughts after boat left. It was so crowded and hot that the first thing I did was make sure I knew where the life preservers were. Didn't walk to the castle as I was afraid I would...More

It's a nice ferry ride to go there, but the castle is too expensive. Take a picture from the outside and get a boat for the beach!

A couple of things to know about this attraction: First, the fort is quite small, and costs 5 CUC to enter, which seems a bit steep given how little there is to see and do. Second, the 1:00 ferry was absolutely packed, wall to wall,...More

The hardest part was finding the ferry dock! It's between Ave 46 and Calle 2. Our Casa were kind enough to ring and find out what times the boat was due to leave and we made it in the nick of time. From memory we...More

If you are taking the ferry direct from Cienfuegos, your hotel or casa should be able to guide you. We did ours as part of a day trip and hired a taxi for the day.
