We were attracted to the grand entry building, and were pleasantly surprised at the rest of the cemetery. There are beautiful monuments from the last 2 centuries, While there we saw a horse drawn wagon used as a hearse. It is also a national museum, and we met the curator, Hilda Mola. She also runs an art program for the... More

Entered through a grand classical building which is reminiscent of the Parthenon in Athens, this is the more modern of the two cemeteries in Cienfuegos. Opened in 1926, the cemetery was laid out like a large garden with different trees in different areas, in which the monuments and paths are integrated into the landscape. In addition to the monuments of... More

I go there to see my family's burial places, has improved from the last time I was there, is well taken care of and a place to feel at ease.

The entrance building was quite nice. We drove through it briefly and respectfully. I wouldn't consider it an attraction to make time for but if you happen to be by it, it might be worth a look. It is the newer of the 2 cemeteries in Cienfuegos. La Reina is on the opposite side Cienfuegos.

Take a stroll in the only garden cemetery in Cuba, founded in 1926. The main building is beautiful also the materials they were using for the monuments. National heroes are buried there along with common people.

Our guide, in perfect English, led us through Cuban history in her tour of this cemetary. Absolutely fascinating!

The heroes of the Sept 5th uprising are buried here, and have an impressive memorial, but the entrance is even more impressive. Huge columns you might see on a Greek revival stately home in the UK dominate. It was a 10 CUC return cycle taxi ride here (that was heroic of the driver, it was quite a long way) and... More

We requested the coach to stop by here for about an hour from our daily trip to the city center. This was worth to come by in the day time. The bus driver stop here and allowed some of us to visit this Cemetery. There are many old and new graves for the past 300 years. There is a grand... More

Not very comfortable to reach, I am happy to have done it. The Necropolis is different from the one in Habana, Santiago e from the Cemetery La Reina in the same Cienfuegos. It was declared National Monument by its artistic values, architectural, historical and environmental factors. Different interesting graves and monuments can be seen (e.g. the one of Veterans of... You might stop here for some 10 minutes on the way to other places of interest (Guanarca or Delphinario) but you won't loose to much if you skip it. You will see the main building from taxi anyway...
