At the tip of Punta Gorda, a nice gazebo offering fantastic views of Cienfuegos Bay, grand villas and mountains. Go there at sunset (or sunrise?) bring your favorite drink and enjoy!

We stopped in Punta Gorda to visit Cienfuegos y la Laguna Guanaroca. This last one was closed, we have discovered it here. So we would like to visit Cienfuegos and El Nicho waterfall. All of them were a delusion. The only nice thing to see outside were the Club Cienfuegos and the Hotel beside. The Club looks very nice and... More

After drinking our way across the southern coast of Cuba, our group unanimously agreed that the mojitos from the bar at punta Gorda were the best. The live music was fantastic and everyone was very friendly. Just a quick word of caution, if you carve your initials in the cactus beware of the nearly invisible tiny hairlike needles. Don't miss this beautifully restored part of Ceinfuegos at the foot of the Malecon. Beautifully restored French Colonial Town where land meets the sea in a beautiful bay and yacht harbour. Quaint with a hint of older times.

The area has been well kept restored, which means all its original charm has been maintained, like so many areas in Cienfuegos. We walked there from the town, be sure to check out the small park at the tip.

Punta Gorda is the extreme southern tip of Cienfuegos where wealthy sugar and tobacco entrepreneurs built their sumptuous homes. Almost all have been restored. In other cities, restored homes/villas are now either government offices or perhaps schools. I am unclear if the Punta Gorda villas were privately owned homes or offices. One, the Palacio de Valle has an interesting history:... More

Anywhere on Punta Gorda would be good to watch the sunset, we were recommended the hotel Jagua as you sit right on the waterline with one on the hotel bars right at hand. The water surrounds you on both sides our Casa having a small jetty over the water right alongside the dinning area for sunrise. Also with the yacht... More

À young man was playing his accoustic guitar while we were there. What an atmosphere! The bar in the park offers drinks. Cool place to chill at Happy hour.
