This is a mesmerizing monument dedicated to Cacique Mabodamaca, a Taíno chief that fought against the Spaniards. Its quite big and impossible to miss; yet beware of traffic in the area. Its location can be very dangerous when crossing the road to take any close up pictures.

Fascinating statue to see upfront and in person. Quite sizeable carving and relatively easy to park alongside the road just be cognizant of the jug handle/exit from the main highway.

The stone monument was pretty cool and you can't hardly miss it. It is right on a major corner so folks are looking at the monument when they should be turning and then there are people everywhere so they need to be watched out for too. Very dangerous corner. Meanwhile, if you are able to eat at the cave....Don't bother. Huge sign that says Empanadas so I ordered one to go because there were no places to eat. I take the item wrapped in tinfoil and walk to the car. We get on our way and I excitedly open my lunch only to find out, I end up with a tamale. What? Well who gets exited about mushy cornbread wrapped around so little meat you could hardly see the meat even with cheaters on.

I bought an apartment in Isabela so much did I love the town bandits people. The town plaza is a center for artisan fairs on Wednesday eves, the Church on the Plaza has a beautiful fisherman Crest, and there is a svelte lovely sculpture 'The Lovers' by famed New Zealander sculptor Lindsey Daen.

I wonder who made the decision to do a mountain carving right at a highway exit?!!!!! It was right after sunset and I was driving somewhere and had to take this exit. I had no idea the carving was right here, so you may imagine how creepy that was: dark, car light pointing at a huuuuuuuge face. It scared the sh** out of me!!! My heart was pounding hard for almost 20 minutes afterwards. I respect the people, culture, history and everything it stands for, but sorry…

This was my 2nd visit to PR in the past 2yrs, both time we stayed in Aguadilla, we love to travel to different places Isabella being one we meant to see this on our last visit but didn't get the chance. But this time on our 2nd visit we couldn't believe that we past this monument dozens of time without realizing it and is not even off the beaten path, it was right in our faces on a mine road it was amazing seeing it.
