If you do make the trip to Mount Rushmore, making the relatively short (approx. 1 mile) Presidential Trail hike is a must. It's enjoyable and pretty with a fair amount of tree cover to boot. And you get closer looks at the monument. we enjoyed it.

A lot of stairs at one end although I would say this is a must do. It is well constructed with a lot of board walks and if you take your time an easy walk

I really enjoyed this walk. It was an easy walk until the end where there were lots of stairs. It was informative and very scenic. Loved seeing the sculpture up close.

I did not allow time to walk the entire thing, and I did not realize it was a loop. Do not make the mistakes I made. It does have quite a few stairs, but it is a great place to walk.

When walking the Presidential Trail, you really get close to Mt. Rushmore. There are many great photo opportunities here while standing "under" the presidents surrounded by beautiful trees and flowers. The walkways are excellent. There are many stairs involved, and if you can manage stairs, you shouldn't have any trouble. The trail is a loop and depending on where you... More

Yes there are a number of stairs, but if you start on the Washington side most will be going down. There are still some near the end but there's benches if you want to take breaks and enjoy the scenery. Takes about 45 mins to an hour. If you can walk and stairs aren't a big problem you'll have no... More

It's a short and easy walk. Unless there is something that prevents you from walking, it would be a mistake to come here and just view the Memorial from the viewing platform. Walk the trail to see different vantage points - e.g., a single president framed by the pine trees.

This was a fun, easy trail for our kids. Lots of interesting things to see in addition to Mount Rushmore. We loved how close we were able to get to the monument!
