Interesting house. But it doesn't really look authentic.

The home looks like it's for sale. But it is a nice older home. Right on the canal. It looks fairly... read more

Enjoy history! YES!!! This stop is well worth your while. To learn more about Frederick, MD and the part they played in this war was fantastic. A must stop.

The museum has closed and the new owners plan to make this an Air BnB. The location is great, being right next to Carroll Creek Linear Park

This house is privately owned and currently has new owners. The previous owners opened the house on some weekends to allow people to tour it but the new owners are not doing this thus far. The sign is down that once hung from the front...More

This is not the original house, but a re-creation of part of the house, as the original washed away in a flood. It's a pretty good remake, and used parts of the original house like the floor boards, although part of it is in disrepair...More

The home looks like it's for sale. But it is a nice older home. Right on the canal. It looks fairly well kept. But again it is not at old as some of the other local historic homes. Worth a drive by.

The house is a re-creation and the story is from the Whittier poem but unsubstantiated and probably false, as even the sign boards admit. So why is it still given prominence? Cheapens history

This place is in a picturesque location, but it is closed now, and the website says it os not open to the public at any time, which I thought was odd since it is clearly a museum. The reading material outside is informative, but minimal.

Oh, well. This is not the real house; Barbara Fritchie was not the real heroine; a descendant of an eye witness says “Stonewall Jackson riding ahead” is false; and the museum is closed, having passed to private ownership. But, you know, the entire episode related...More
