Prepare to step back in time as you pass through both the old and 'new' cathedral. The audio guides are excellent and essential for the visit. Unfortunately they don't allow photos to be taken in the cathedral and are quite vigilant. It's absolutely magnificent, grand, and centuries old. So much history! An absolute must see in Plasencia

The Cathedral of Plasencia is really two interconnected Cathedrals--called the Old and New Cathedral (Vieja and Nueva). The old was begun in the 1200's while the new was begun in the early 1500's. The main altar is quite beautiful and dates to the 1600's. Walking through the two Cathedrals feels like stepping back in time. A very nice visit.

A church that asks for an admitance fee is kind of contrary to Jesus throwing the money lenders oout of the temple isn't it?

Well priced, large and comfortable. We only stayed for one night and thoroughly enjoyed our time. Huge bath and bed. Sights and restaurants only a short walk away. Call beforehand for directions if you are driving and check to see if you can have a space for parking your car. Well worth staying.

On our way up north decided to stop for lunch in plasencia, to be honest we weren't expecting much after being told by friends it was just another overrated cathedral. We loved it! even came across a local lady willing to show us parts of it and tell the kids a couple of local moths surrounding the building.

The place is worth a visit as it is quite unusual to see two cathedrals in one. The new one was never finished And the old one isn't complete either as the builders took the stone blocks for the new one.

A lovely building with two cathedrals coming together - the new lying against the old. If you are in Plasencia it is worth a visit to look at and spend a little time inside,

It's pretty much the main attraction of the city. Interesting because the new cathedral is against the wall of the old cathedral.A bit dark

Fascinating where old and new cathedral meet. Excellent commentary and well laid out with relevant talk at each location. Even my husband enjoyed it and he is a bit jaded by all all the Spanish churches churches we churches we have seen
