The Center for Puppetry Arts feels like a relatively new museum. Whether it is or not, I do not know. It features a section on puppets of the world and a section dedicated to Jim Henson. There is also a theater that does shows for...More

The Center for Puppetry Arts is a fun, informative museum and a must-see if you are a Jim Henson/Muppet fan. I wish, though, they had a more extensive permanent exhibit on the history of puppetry. But it is a lot of fun for both adults...More

Just after college, I was a puppeteer for a local artist who did shows for schoolchildren throughout my home state. It was such fun work, and I had (and have) immense respect for this man as an artist. On several occasions, he mentioned Atlanta's Center...More

I'd known about this museum for years but never visited. Recently it was expanded and became the official home for Jim Henson's legacy and I finally visited. Although we received a discount due to our DragonCon badges -- any attendee of that event qualifies --...More

The Center has been producing this adult Halloween show since 2006. It's seven human performers (the Dreadfuls) and lots of puppets. It's vaudeville and Grand Guignol and Oscar Wilde and a theremin-playing cat. If you're lucky, you'll get a Time Warp encore.

The special Labyrinth exhibit was the main reason we went to Atlanta. That plus the fan videos and Dark Crystal showing made an enjoyable day. We went twice in one day to walk through the main museum and take the Jim Henson tour. It is...More

Before heading to the airport for an evening flight, my friend and I decided to check this place out. She doesn't like marionettes and thinks some puppets are creepy, so I was happy about the Jim Henson exhibit taking up a large part of the...More
