My husband and I love visiting National Parks, hiking through the trails, and learning. We happened to go to Manassas National Battlefield when they were commemorating the First Battle of Bull Run--we had no idea! A local group was doing a commemoration of their ancestors who had fought in the battle while the park rangers and re-enactors were showing weapons... More

Anytime of the year is the right time to visit Manassas Battlefield Park! I've gone to stroll and reflect. I've also worked up a great sweat running the trails. At the right time of day you can encounter deer and other friendly woodland creatures. Be prepared for hills and mud. Definitely worth a visit.

This was our second visit to Manassas. It’s smaller than the other battlefields like Antietam and Gettysburg which we also toured this year. You begin your tour with the museum which is small but interesting or the documentary explaining both battles that happened here. Afterward you can tour the battlefield. You can see the replica of Judith Henry’s home as... More

I was in the area and love visiting National Parks. Besides, how could I pass one up during the year of their 100th anniversary?!! Manassas is a smaller site but a great one on a beautiful day if you are up for a walk. The visitor's center is small and doesn't take too long - even if you like reading... More

Really informative film in the new and comfortable theater (though they could have made more mention of the plight of Blacks/slaves). The best way to see this battlefield is to get out and walk it... even our teenagers appreciated the rolling hills and could better imagine the troops of men rounding the crest of a hillside. The carnage that must... More

The battlefield is a pretty interesting trip for those history buff people but for the average person it might be kind of boring. I am not really knowledgeable about battles etc but the main building does give you a lot to read and look at. I learned about Bull Run and about how the battle came about. There are trails... More

We stopped at the visitor center and were treated to an in depth explanation by the park service folks about the battle and the battlefield. The best and most moving part of the visit was the movie depicting the battle...it felt as though we had been there. I gained an immense appreciation of the war, and came away quite depressed... Manassas National Battlefield Park is best-known for two major battles at Bull Run in the American Civil War. The first was the first major battle of the Civil War. It lasted several days ~ July 21–24, 1861. The second occurred August 28–30, 1862. The odd things about these battles were that the Confederates won both battles, but Union forces had... More
