I had been by this home many times. I took a tour this time. My tour guide was Warrick, and he was very amazing and informative. It is a must see place. Sadly, it is not open during the cold months.

My visit was extremely enjoyable! The docent, Paige, was phenomenal. She was the best part of the tour due to her passion and expertise. It made me feel like I was there as she walked me through the tour. There is not a lot of parking space but enough to where you can visit without that being a consideration. It... More

I had been trying to see this historic house for almost six months and on their first weekend open for the season, I went. I was soaked from a hike in the rain and the warm friendly interior of their gift shop was welcome. My guide Warwick was very knowledgeable and engaging plus he was surprised by my Civil War... An extremely informative tour of this federal-style home, it's early years and how it was used as a field hospital during the first few months of the Civil War. Located within earshot of the 1st Battle of Manassas, it was well-situated to attend to the wounds of over 300 men. The rooms are set up as they would have been... More

It was very interesting to see a beautiful plantation house set up as a battlefield hospital. Although a little gruesome, it gave a very clear picture on how these homes were transformed into surgeries and recovery rooms. Definitely worth a stop.

The tour of the house was a bit disturbing as the guide described some of the injuries that were treated here. For my group, we visited this site along with visiting the Manassas battlefield as well so my group received a detailed lesson on the civil war battle fought in (battle of Manassas one and two.)

The tour is of the house that was a hospital set up to treat casualties of the war. The smells give some hint as to what it would have been like but they were not really objectionable. The tour included the room where the owners of the house stayed, to the ward rooms, and the surgical room. The tour lasts... More

I rode my motorcycle here with a bunch of other people. We took the tour, tour guide was awesome. The stories and old buildings transport you back in time. Great history of the Civil War. Tour guide was very informative. Must see for Civil War history buffs!!! A++++++

We decided to visit Ben Lomond and the Rose garden on the last day of our vacation. We envisaged a nice stroll around the rose garden but the garden was disappointing really, it didn't look too cared for and was small, in fact 5 minutes strolling around was more than enough. A real shame, the roses looked in need of... More

Can't say enough about Sean the docent, he did an outstanding tour. I had been before, but this time I brought a few friends to share this wonderful historic time piece. He is so knowledgeable and open for questions. My friends had a great time and we continued to talk about our American history and Sean (how great he was!)... More
