Build in 1845, this Egyptian Revival structure is an historic landmark. It is part of the Virginia Commonwealth University (medical school).
Located on the corner of Marshall street (between College and N 13th Street), I recommend this detour.
Unfortunately I only witness the exterior. I wish I could see the inside.

We could only see it from the outside so there is not much more to say really. It is very good detail and a great photo op but cannot cay much more.

The building was so interesting from the outside. However, you can't go in because, it belongs to the medical college.

A standout building, nestled by the MCV student education building and hospital. Don't forget to look inside for the hieroglyphics!

This replica of an Egyptian temple is tucked away between Broad St. and the Medical College of Virginia and you have to know about it to go there. It's worth the trip. The beautiful building is surrounded by a cast iron mummy fence, some with more or less than five toes per foot. Inside are inscriptions, scarabs, and temple-like torches (only they are electric). It is the original building of MCV, also known as Baruch Auditorium, and is still used for lectures today.

The Egyptian Building is historic architecture incorporated into the MCV/VCU medical complex; I see this building everytime I visit Massey Cancer Center for physical therapy. Built in 1845, this Egyptian Revival building was once the Medical College of Richmond; then it was called the Egyptian Building as part of the Medical College of Virginia. This imposing structure should be included on all architectural tours of Richmond. Some of its Egyptian characteristics have been incorporated into nearby VCU architecture.

So unique, and so interesting to see both outside and in the lobby, esp. I have taken family/friends visiting there as one of the places to see in Richmond quite often.
