Neat place to stroll around and find little neighborhood bars & restaurants. Occasional park to rest & relax in.

The Fan is a diverse collection of wealth and poverty, grandeur and decay. There are pockets of great architectural beauty, and neighborhoods with old sofas on the front porches. It is definitely interesting to drive through this area and appreciate the history and architecture, and perhaps mourn the loss of some of it.

The walk along the streets were worth the time. We truly got the feeling of the old town here. We ate at "District 5" and really enjoyed our meal there. Using http://richmondmuralproject.squarespace.com/ we plotted the places into our map and got to see quite a few of them.

Take a stroll around the beautiful Fan district and look closely at the amazing features for the restored homes and row houses that have been restored. It's great walking thru the sleepy fan district with beautiful old and renovated homes. We lived there 30 yrs ago and came by the old house. The current occupants were on the porch and invited us in to see how it had changed since we lived there. Unexpected and quite fun for all!

Many of the houses from the late 1800s are still in use. Walking distance to restaurants and shops. Locals really love this spot.

The Fan is a part of Richmond worth seeing. It is big enough to drive around in, but be sure and take some time to park your car and experience walking on Park Avenue down near the university for a few blocks. Stop in one of the local restaurants, then sit in one of the pocket parks, and take in... More
