Took a day trip and found the Museum to be very nice. Ample parking for $5.00, fantastic open layout of the exhibit. Online audio tour aid with transcripts. Plenty of helpful assistants in the exhibit and museum as a whole. Took the opportunity to visit...More

We stopped here as it is listed as one of the largest Fine Art Museums in North America. It is indeed large - it also has a very wide range of displays which are sure to interest most people. The admission is free (except for...More

Amazing permanent collection. Beautiful architecture. And the visiting selection as impressive as any art museum you could attend.

The building is extremely well-designed for the art it displays. The fact that it is free raises interest in the exhibits. Two collections are worth attending: the silver is superior, the Faberge collection has several great pieces, and lots of average ones, that since they...More

We went to see the Terra-cotta Warrior exhibit which was outstanding. The museum has other outstanding displays that we did not have time to see so a second visit in in order.

Visited to view the Terra-cotta Army exhibit. Purchased timed entry tickets for the visit assuming that this meant that they would be limiting admission to provide crowd control. This was not the case. The exhibit was too crowded to enjoy or to see the items...More

We are sorry that you experienced less than optimal conditions when visiting Terracotta Army: Legacy of the First Emperor of China. This special exhibition has been extremely popular with guests, especially on weekends, as we approach the end of its run at VMFA on March...More

This museum is a great resource. They try to exhibit a little of everythig, and perhaps that is where they fall a little short. I love Renaissance art, for example, and the small offering in a very small display room was simply inadequate. We came...More

We were able to enter the exhibit 30 minutes before our set time so I doubt I would be a problem.

I would give it at least an hour. If you have a particular interest in the other items, such as the gold and other jewelry, household furnishing, etc., plan on longer.
