We had read of Bunny Mellon's jewelery collection designed by Jean Schlumberger and wanted to see it. We were very impressed by the museum and toured other galleries. We plan to return and see more of the exhibits. We were very impressed.

The VMFA sits like a NYC museum, yet in the heart of Richmond, VA. I've been awed at the exhibits that have been here recently including the Kehinde Wiley exhibit. Very cultural and sophisticated. They offer free jazz on Thursday evenings.

Stopped by twice over the past weekend. First as a couple, then a return visit with our daughter. The museum is in a pretty and very walkable part of town. Parking was easy. The museum grounds are nice, and on a warm Saturday in March, there were lots of people enjoying them. The collection, while not small, is small enough... More

Excellent museum. The lighting was well done and the pieces well chosen. The Faberge Show was outstanding and the Contemporary art and deco exhibits were superb.

We needed to allow more time to see all the exhibits, but enjoyed the impressionist collection courtesy of Paul and Bunny Mellon. And the art deco furniture exhibit.

A No. 1 destination when visiting Richmond. Great French/impressionist wing. The American wing and the Egyptian wings are great.

This is a must see museum that is well worth the trip - plus it's free! Amazing art, sculpture, and interesting artifacts housed in a very nice, spacious setting. Really enjoyed it a lot!!

Architecturally stunning with a varied,well-curated collection and free admission make for a perfect museum experience. The collections cover many genres and art forms but include choice and impressive works that are well-displayed. We loved the size of the museum being large enough to be interesting without overwhelming. Excellent restaurant and shop, too.
