Admission to this Museum includes a guided tour of the adjoining historic (1812) John Wickham House. It is actually a "twofer." Our Wickham House tour was conducted by a young woman, who was exceptional with her knowledge and presentation. The Valentine, itself, is not huge with respect to exhibited materials. However, what is exhibited is presented in a first class... More

My partner and I went to the Valentine Museumwhile we were in Richmond for the weekend, and overall, it's an interesting house and has a long history in the city. Downtown Richmond is filled with historic sites like this, and I'm glad to see how refurbished and renovated this house has become. We just walked in and we were able... More

The website is a little confusing, but the John Wickham house is a portion of the overall museum complex known as The Valentine in Richmond. John Wickham was a contemporary of John Marshall, but Wickham continued in lucrative private law practice and his opulent home reflects his success. Be sure to see both sites as they are a fascinating combination... More

The Valentine has an eclectic collection of Richmond history items but we especially enjoyed touring the Wickham House nearby; our tour guide did an especially nice job of taking us thru the house and was well-informed. It's worth several hours of your time and close to the Capitol and Museum of the Confederacy, so it could be part of a... More

Being new to Richmond, I liked seeing the history of the city. The exhibits were like the best 'This American Life' episodes-- engaging stories about interesting people.

We especially enjoyed the photos of military personnel taken recently holding picture of themselves when they were in the military. We attended a dinner in the museum which stayed open for our enjoyment.,

If you have not taken the time after the Valentines remodel you must stop by. The flow of the museum and the wonderful Richmond exhibits are enough alone to enjoy. The changing exhibits are always well advertised and have never been disappointing. A great museum tucked away in the middle of Downtown Richmond. A must visit for every Richmonder and... More

The exhibition on men's clothing in Virginia was outstanding and worth the museum's admission cost by itself. Where else will you get to see a vintage leisure suit, tailored by Richmond icon Franco Ambrogi no less? The pieces reflect a worthy cross-section of Richmond clothing businesses over the years. The theme is clever and the displays fit the theme. The... More
