The gypsy reserve is a nature reserve where you can make hiking trails with different difficulty and length and enjoy relaxing baths in fantastic coves.
- Cost: the entry price is 5 euros per person (except reductions) and you can enter north side from San Vito Lo Capo or south side from Scopello. The cost is absolutely well deserved and allows to conserve and finance the maintenance of the place.
- Beach and Sea: as already described above, along the path (especially the coastal one) there are six coves. We have tried them all and more or less deserve them all. The first two north side, Cala Dell'Uzzo and Tonnarella dell'Uzzo, are extraordinary. In between some is more complicated to reach with rocks. Scopello side instead to report the beautiful Cala Capreria. The clear sea with warm temperature, nice for snorkeling.
- Trekking: the path is naturalistic, with rocky parts but overall well marked and secured. Perhaps the only drawback is the lack of intermediate services. Along the way you can see other natural beauties such as caves, local museums and breathtaking views.
- Services and Other: services are present, although spaced between them. At the respective entrances there are toilets and picnic areas. There are no kiosks where you can get water or food, probably to preserve nature.

To fully enjoy it you need to enter the reserve with the right sprint, certainly not with the intention of sprawling out on a small beach (if someone complains about finding them all full in the middle of summer, perhaps it's better to go to Riccione...)
You have to go around it on foot following the various paths and itineraries according to your physical condition and admiring the many panoramic views that are offered to you.
Almost 4 years later, unfortunately, the consequences of the devastating fire of 2020 are still visible (the dwarf palms were almost exterminated) but nature is doing its best to recover (unlike men who, after almost 4 years, are still not were able to replace the burnt billboard placed at the north entrance, it's not a question of money but of not having the desire to do things, aka indifference...).
I highly recommend visiting it in spring so you can enjoy it with very few people and without any crowding, in summer it must be hell, like in the city during rush hour)

Not much to say... we arrived at 8.30 from the north entrance. Having paid the ticket we went to the first cove (Cala Tonnarella) where there was practically no one, we bathed in a breathtaking natural pool and moved on to the second (Cala dell'Uzzo). Here there were more people and several boats of tourists had arrived. In any case, the swim was fabulous... we set off again and headed to Cala Marinella. Here my daughter didn't feel like swimming because she wasn't used to the rocks... at this point we had to turn back but we stopped again at the first cove, with many more tourists but still liveable.
To sum up
Price to access the reserve absolutely acceptable (€5)
Fantastic sea
Simple walk to reach the coves and with breathtaking views
Only thing, always use comfortable shoes. Slippers and flip flops are dangerous.

We started at the Scopello entrance (thankfully found the last remaining parking space in the nearest parking lot), paid the 5E admission and set off. It’s about 12kms all the way to San Vito lo Capo, and you need to retrace along the same route to return.
Terrrific views, and secluded beaches and coves to explore en route. The popular Cala Capreria is reachable about 15 minutes into the hike itself. This is a physically strenuous hike, though not dangerous in any way with some changes in elevation en route. Bring enough refreshments and water (free water fountain near Scopello gate). Given there is very limited shade and its been an unusually hot summer, this can really sap your energy. We only went as far as Cala Marinella and returned, taking about 4.5 hours with stops.

Coming from San Vito lo Capo, unfortunately you have to travel a part of the road where everything is burnt. The stupidity of man is terrifying. Once past this macabre theatre, there are areas where nature has begun to be born again until you reach a dirt road and the entrance to the reserve. We couldn't do it by boat due to too much wind, so we went on foot.
We left at 9 in the morning and arrived in Scopello by 1pm.
Along the way we stopped in different coves, there are several very well kept museums. The staff is very willing to tell you their story. The agricultural museum is one of my favorites.
There are no bathrooms and the "authorized" kiosks selling water and food are at the two entrances (San Vito and Scopello).
Bring water and some food, double shoes: for trainers/trekkers and for swimming as there are many rocks
We reached the town of Scopello (a total of 18 km round trip) and ate excellent cunzato bread
At 7pm we were back at the first cove and enjoyed the sunset, at 7.20pm we left because the gates close at 7.30pm.
Beautiful experience, we are not athletes 😁

Wonderful place! We managed to reach the first 3 coves, which offer a warm and crystal clear water that looks like a pool! Admission costs 5 euros per person. The view is breathtaking and it really is an experience to try. Recommendation to bring a hat, closed shoes and lots of water. The temperature can get very high, since there are no shaded areas, I do not recommend on hot days because it can become really impossible to travel.

Absolutely obligatory experience for those who love the sea and nature. Some little advice (based on my experience): wear closed shoes, bring at least 1L of water per person, hat and sunscreen because along the route you will take to reach the various coves you will rarely find shade. We arrived at the southern entrance when it opened, that is, at 7am and we tackled the outward journey in the cool. I also recommend arriving early because the parking at the entrance to the reserve is free and there is a risk of not finding a place. (private car parks ask for €9). The staff is very friendly, helpful and professional. The only thing they DEMAND is respect for nature. Smoking is prohibited (it should be a logical thing, given the danger of fires, as well as a question of civility and respect for others), it is forbidden to bring umbrellas or beach toys. I advise not to stop immediately at the first cove but to continue to the second and third ( almost attached) and on the way back go to the first one. The museums along the route are very interesting.

No matter how hard I try, I can't find the right words to truly capture the beauty of the Riserva Naturale dello Zingaro in Sicily. You’ll hear people describe it as breathtaking, amazing, incredible, or wonderful, but even those words fall short.
The drive to the reserve is an experience in itself, and if you opt for a boat tour, the scenery becomes even more striking. There are several hiking trails, both along the hills and close to the water, offering spectacular views.
If you love snorkeling, this is one of the most incredible spots in Europe to do it. Even if you don’t venture into deep waters or near the rocks, you can stay close to the beaches and find yourself surrounded by curious seabream, some swimming right up to your face.
I highly recommend going early in the morning and allowing yourself plenty of time to explore. Don’t forget to bring refreshments, as there’s no food available once you’re inside the reserve.

Very beautiful views all along the trail, however bring plenty of water, there is a snack truck next to the car park which sells fresh water for 3 euros.
Entrance is 5 euros, the south parking lot is free, arrive early because it is not very big considering the crowds.
The trail is in full sun and at times very steep. Not to be done with children.
Bring sunscreen and SNEAKERS.
The first cove is Calla Capreria which is the most beautiful, if you are not very sporty, I advise you to stop there.
The Calla della Disa is the second and it is closed due to the risk of flooding which involves going to the third which is the Calla Berretta: 1 hour walk in full sun for a beautiful cove but which is not very large and quickly filled.

We chose the northern entrance from San Vito, I recommend it because the coves are beautiful.
Parking is near the entrance and is free.
Entrance costs €5 per person, you will be given a sheet with all the useful information such as the km that separate one cove from the other.
The first cove is about 700m away and is beautiful, right from the shore you will encounter lots of wonderful fish. There is also a museum and bath.
The second cove is worth a dive, the seabed is amazing!
To get to the third cove it takes a bit of strength as it is more than 1km away from the previous one, and it is almost entirely uphill. But go there!! It's absolutely worth it, in fact it's the most beautiful!
Rock overlooking a crystal clear sea, truly wonderful. If you are afraid, you can go down the rock sideways. There is no sand, but a small stone beach. We stopped at the third cove, it's already absolutely worth it! We will be back from the south side!

No mi dispiace , che ricordi no .

Written 18 May 2021
Salve, mi consigliate di vederla via mare oppure via terra?
Written 29 August 2020
Dipende.
