I have an even greater appreciation for fabric than I did before visiting. The effects of the cotton industry on women's rights, slavery, labor unions, and the Industrial Revolution are fascinating to explore. You get a small (but very loud) feel for what it was...More

The sheer size of this place & the ancient machinery still running & producing cloth. The noise of the limited number of machines running was phenomenal. All the MPS guides were great & the vintage tramcar ride was superb. Ask & get dropped off @...More

A very enlightening history of the American industrial revolution is found here and portrayed through historical video interpretation, museum exhibits with dioramas, hands on activies portraying the importance and process of the local cotton mils to Lowell and early American manufacturing. There is something here...More

This was such a wonderful place to visit. They had a special exhibit for Apollo three. I understand they often have special exhibits that is what excites me. Learning some of the history of the Lowell area was phenomenal.

We did this on a rainy day during spring break and it was the perfect activity. When you first enter the museum you see the original punch cards/machines for the employees on the wall and immediately get a feel for what life was like for...More

Lots to see & learn here. Don't miss it if you're in the area and have an afternoon to look around. Good for school aged children and adults.

The lives of the textile workers come close here. Perhaps you'll need to read up a bit before you go, but imagination and the brilliant park ranger guides will give you a real feel for the independence women sought and got as workers at the...More

Well worth an hour or two of time to learn how factories operated in Lowell back during the industrial revolution. Quite interesting!

There are 2 Visitor Centers a few blocks apart. The museum is in one visitor center. It has terrific displays and the mill machines. Very worthwhile.

Check out the Athenian Corner, Olympia Rest., Cobblestones or the old court. The Worthen is good but it is more of a bar and 54 people might overwhelm it for lunch. All of these places are online, but like any place... More

My advise is to take the Free lowell national park visitors tour. The opening times in October depends upon the time of the tour and the average visit is less than an hour.
