I've been walking past this rock for years and the municipality hasn't fixed the protections for years. There has been a horrible plastic net for years. You are unable to enhance your attractions. We will see the year prox 2025

As other reviews have commented, I would not make a specific trip to see this, but just off the main road that goes along the coast, and pretty close to Castelsardo, and Nuraghe Paddaggiu.
Easy parking off road, and a few wood/trinket sellers, for a quick stop for a couple of shots showing the rain and wind erosion of the rock, easily identifiable as elephant shape.
No charge.. and now done it, seen it, would not stop again.

Just outside the town of the magnificent Castelsardo you can admire this wonder of nature that resembles an elephant. Inside there are Domus de Janas. It's a shame that the route to get there is not very safe and not well delimited. Worth seeing.

Nice to have seen how wind, sun and rain can create such creations.
It's only a few kilometers from by car from Castelsardo.

Nice drive close to Castelsardo to view this natural wonder. Go early in the morning as not too many tourists around to get the perfect picture with your loved ones.

We pass by with the car. we stopped to have a look and then we continue our trip. Yes it looks like an elephant but is nothing special. Not sure if it's worth to stop

We loved it, it was easily accessible and exactly like in the pictures we had seen.
A landmark not to miss that even our picky teens enjoyed.

when I first came to the Elephant Rock, I could hardly believe my eyes: this nature- shaped rock is righ beside the street overlooking the wide valleys. Our ancesters surely believed in its special "magic" and therefor placed some "Domus de Janas" (ancient graves of the historic Sardinian popolation) into it.
My advice: DON'T FORGET YOUR CAMERA and of course make a shot of yourself, "riding" the elephant . :-)
As long as you are there, also don'T miss the NURAGHE L'ENI, that you can see just below the rock. I always love to crawl into it, even acheived to move up the very narrow way up until achieving the top.
It's worth the effort.
Advice: Take a torch with you, otherwise it's really dark and a little "spooky" inside. ;-)
When you move inside, and illuminate the "hall", you will see the amazing way of the special technique how they built this over 3000 year- old Nurgahe.
Incredible.
