This church does not have a facade but only an entrance in the middle of the central body.
Inside we find three large arches of limestone and trachytic stone. A nave with the neoclassical main altar houses the crucifix of the Black Christ.
The bizarre coloring is exclusively due to the aging of the work made with juniper wood. Someone, precisely because of that colour, had given it supernatural and miraculous qualities, and every time a calamity or drought struck, the statue was carried in procession with the inhabitants praying at its sides, with the hope that Christ Black solved problems.

This modest church stands on a small clearing rising from the cathedral towards the castle. It is a very old church and inside there are three very wide arches of limestone. It is worth stopping to visit on the way down from the castle to the cathedral.

Find it and go there.nice church to visit. Very moisty, but feels like going back in time, like in the ‘old’ maffia films :-)

We climed to the rock to find this church, that was attached to adjacent Monastery of Benedictines. Inside there are the „Black Crist” and the „Bust of Ecce Homo” and nice wooden altars. It’s worth a visit.

Not as impressive as the Cathedral San Antonio next door but if you visit one you may as well visit the other. The walk to the church and cathedral is as pleasant as the walk round them both via narrow cobbled streets.

A small church. Nice and cool, look out for services as local people and others do attend. I'm not religious but I donated and lite a candle in memory of relatives and it felt the right thing.

Small church dating back to the 12th century but modified in subsequent centuries; small, with a nave, obviously, given its antiquity, little decorated; it has a small and nice Altar, some Statues inserted in small recesses in the walls, an interesting secondary Altar and a beautiful Chapel with Altar, Statues and decorations.

Walking around the historic center of Castelsardo, we come across this delightful church dating back to the fourteenth century, which has two peculiarities: it lacks a real facade and has the entrance on one side.
Built in limestone and trachytic pieta, it was the cathedral of the town until the sixteenth century, losing its title after the construction - and subsequent consecration - of the church of Sant'Antonio Abate, located a little further downstream in the ridge that descends to the sea; at the same time, however, it became the seat of the brotherhood of Santa Croce, guardian of the "Lunissanti", procession of the village Holy Week that starts from Santa Maria della Grazie, arrives at the basilica of Our Lady of Tergu, after more than ten kilometers of walk, with the return road illuminated by torches.
With a single nave, it has the main altar placed in the custodian apse of an "Ecce Homo" – a sculpture of Christ – placed between two niches of other saints; in addition to this, a statue of St. Francis and the famous fourteenth-century crucifix "Cristu Nieddu" (Black Christ) in juniper wood blackened by time and carried in procession in case of natural disasters poured on Castelsardo should be remembered.
Church unique in its kind, it is worth a hasty visit.
