Painstakingly rebuilt after being disassembled in the 1960s, this Greek Revival masterpiece saw Lincoln serve as a lawyer and legislator. In 1858, Lincoln delivered his landmark "House Divided" speech in the Capitol's Representatives Hall.

This was an excellent stop on our trip to see Lincoln sites. The interior has been reconstructed to appear like it is still in use. The day we were there, an actor was portraying U.S Grant and gave a talk on Appomattox. Afterward we walked...More

There is no charge to visit the capitol, but they do suggest a $5 donation per adult. We made out way to the Senate Chamber room where Lincoln made his famous 'House Divided' speech. While were there, Ulysses S. Grant was explaining Lee's surrender. They...More

Lincoln used this building as a defacto headquarters after he won the Presidency, he gave his house divided speech and served terms here, and Ulysses Grant had an office here very early in the war. Staffed by great volunteers!

A historical spot to learn about early IL. Go upstairs. Then head to the new capitol before you leave town.

This site was accessed by driving by. I do not know if there are tours. Lincoln served in the state legislature, where he got a taste of government at work.

Another free self guided tour. We we went and looked things over. There is an elevator. It is set up like they are still in session.

Good tour gave insight into Illinois history before the more modern era. Maybe unsurprising focus on Lincoln. Worth a visit and close to other attractions

Our tour guide was excellent and very knowledgeable. We learned a lot about President Lincoln we didn't know before, a strong beginning of our tour of Lincoln country.

I believe they do. You will have to go up a set of stairs to get into the building. Once in, there is an elevator to the second floor.
