Good to see before the current capitol

This is a great reference to basic government functions on a smaller scale. The building was simple on the inside, but definitely worth a visit.

We stopped in here after visiting the Lincoln Museum. My elementary-aged boys loved seeing the old Senate chambers and sitting in a desk, and they were amazed by beautiful staircase. There is no admission fee, but a place to leave a suggested donation. Worth a half hour to hour for sure!

Free will offering got us a little extra attention from one of the workers. Be sure to go upstairs to look down on the representatives hall where he Lincoln laid in state. Also, look at the super cool map of the United States in the Secretary of State's office!

Beauty building with tons of history. Lincolns body laid in state here for a number of days. Make sure to look at the ceilings in the house and senate chambers.

Stopped in as we walked from the Lincoln Museum to the Capitol building and I'm glad we did, it was great to see out things were 'back then' and then able to compare as we walked though the current capitol. Donation fee based.

The OSC is impressive and a great historical piece of history that should not be missed This was where Lincoln spent a lot of time & ended his life as he was laid out for public viewing in the house a very special place.

To see the place that Lincoln tried cases and was laid to rest was a favorite of ours. History once again comes to life while walking through here. The people that staff the site are so knowledgeable and friendly. Great for a family or individuals. There are elevators for those who can not climb stairs.

The old capitol is really a treat to visit. I took the self guided tour and was amazed at the beautiful architecture and it was wonderful to see the way the rooms are set up for the houses of congress, etc. I highly recommend seeing the old capitol

Our organization has the pleasure of using the old statehouse for our conferences for many years now. It is a beautiful building rich with history and stories to tell. The staff are friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. The contrast between the old and the new statehouse is striking. Definitely worth opening that big door and peeking inside.

We loving taking this tour. Its like stepping back in time, moves you to try and live the time that Lincoln actually was here. You can just feel how great the place was and still is. Thanks Springfield.
