Not much to see at Lake Mead anymore with the water so low. Visitor Center was much like any other NPS location. Friendly staff and a nice gift shop. No oversize shirts because NPS thinks large people don't go outside.

We stopped in for information and Jeff took the time to answer all of my questions. His helpful answers and suggestions made our time more productive and enjoyable.

We got the maps we needed, information on how to see Hoover Dam, and even information about fishing and bird watching.

I would suggest that anyone in the area for the first time take a few minutes to stop in.

A very nice visitor center. You can see the lake from here. There are shirts and books and candy, and bathrooms.

Our son enjoyed seeing the taxidermied roadrunner and being able to pick up the horns of a big horn sheep. He was able to get a junior ranger badge and talk with ranger Lynn, who was very kind. She told him they have a roadrunner that hangs around which set our son on a mission around their cute trail to locate Chuck. Bathrooms were clean and stocked. They had some little plastic animals next to the register for 59 cents making great souvenirs for our son's friends. I would have given it a 5 except for a blonde, shoulder length haired woman wearing common clothing (not a ranger) behind the counter that laughed and mocked my 8 year old son's question about how much water the damn holds back. She led us to a book then returned to the man in uniform behind the counter mocking my son like that was an absurd question. 10 trillion gallons by the way...

The ranger at the visitor’s center was pleasant. The Historic Railroad Trail right behind the center is perfect for a walk with great views of Lake Mead — and a great chance to dog watch as many pups walk along with their owners, too.

The ranger on duty seemed to be less than excited about being here but was helpful with information - especially about the nearby railroad tunnel hike

We are national park enthusiasts and this visitor center was less than impressive but then so is the recreation area unless you're boating.

We stopped here after visiting the Hoover Dam, it is close to Lake Mead which is what the Hoover Dam holds back. You can clearly see how low the lake has got, this is due to Las Vegas and surrounding areas growing faster and using the water quicker than expected.
The center itself has a film about the area, souvenirs and friendly staff who are more than willing to answer your questions or recommend things
The seating area outside is a nice place to sit and soak in the sun, it was quiet while we were there so it was a nice peaceful place to visit
Worth stopping off at

Took the daughter and hit the gift shop too! Then drove around the lake. So sad to see it so low it’s almost at critical now. The sites it has left is breathtaking.

Go now while there is still water. Learn about the lake.

We are booking camping sites as we speak for next fall. It’s beautiful here.
Ps. Great gift shop, too

We stopped here on our way to Hoover Dam. It is a beautiful little photo op off the highway. We were able to take some pics of Lake Mead. If it had been a warmer day, it would have been nice to enjoy what the area offered but this visitor center gave us a nice overview. There were many exhibits to look at and the people working there were very informative. There were quite a few different cacti on the property to see. I was disappointed last year when I went to see the Grand Canyon and did not even see one so this was special to see so many in a small area.
