In fairness, the building is an historic landmark, and so cannot be changed or remodeled. But that leads to outdoor (under tent) baggage check & claim, and large crowds in a tight space. Depot staff is quick and efficient.

The Gold Star Line is like going first class on a jet. You are raised above the engine so that you have a great view 360 degrees. But if you decide to go that route you must sign up for way in advance of your arrival. A year would be the soonest because everyone wants that service the Gold Star provides. You get great meals a specially provided dinning car with excellent food and service. Go the Gold Star for both going to Denali and returning to Anchorage.

Very quick and efficient picking up tickets. Building was a little warm and stuffy and not many places to sit inside. Gift shop was small and crowded. The train trips were worth it though!!!

We arrived there about 7:15 am this morning. Checked in luggage w/o any difficulty. There was a cute snack kiosk manned by a couple of college students working during the tourist season that were quit competent in meeting our needs. The ticket agent and his crew were really fast and profesional. One of the conductors was somewhat of a clown. All in all a great experience

We rode the Alaskan rail from Anchorage to Seward regular class and did the return trip in first class in the domed cars. What an amazing experience! If I return to Alaska, I will surely do this again! It really offered the most amazing views. I got some of my best photos from this train ride. The service was amazing. Highly worth it. Totally recommend.

Clean and well run. Had to pick up all our boarding passes for both of our rail trips out of this depot. The staff was very professional and got us our boarding passes with no issues. there is a little food and coffee area and very clean bathrooms

The Alaska Railroad is run like I wish our airports would be. the ticketing at all of the depots was efficient and without any mistakes. Even at 6 a.m. the people were friendly and helpful and took care of any questions. An outstanding experience.

We took the Glacier Discovery Tour train on August 22, 2023, and what a great experience! First off Billie Jo was an excellent tour guide!! Her knowledge and witty commentary made our trip so much fun!! Duane in the cafe was so pleasant and friendly!! All of the crew made this a special trip for my family visiting from Texas!! The views were amazing!! So much to see!

The Coastal Classic Train proved a most enjoyable way to get to Seward for a boat tour. There were two narrative guides; one was good, the other just annoying. Breakfast featured okay scrambled eggs and really good reindeer sausage. On the way back, I had a very decent-tasting and good-sized hamburger. This train had older equipment, but it was still in decent shape. The windows were somewhat dirty, which was unfortunate because there were fantastic views of bays, lakes, rivers, and glaciers, plus moose, black bear, and Dall sheep. There was a crying baby nearby; I have kids and know two things: (1) a baby's going to cry sometimes, and nothing can stop it, but (2) it is usually possible to move to a location more considerate to others.

I'm including a picture of a banner that I found most disturbing - not the least because a railroad actually wanted it for their centennial logo. To me that stiesel engine looks like something Stephen King would dream up!

We missed out on this offer. Alaska Railroad would not honour coupon after the fact. Very disappointed. Be sure to take advantage of offer...especially if more than one person. Alaska's best kept secret...a lot of other 2 for 1 offers in this coupon booklet...take advantage of savings!!!!!!! Enjoyed the trip despite a lack of goodwill gesture by Alaska Railroad.
