We don't get to many train stations anymore but Anchorage, Alaska is special because it leads you to so many places that other traveling types don't allow you access to. Staff was friendly - easy to find - spacious - over all good experience- main lines tend to travel after May 15th so check the availability of schedules.

I thought the train was comfortable, if albeit a LONG alternative of transportation, and there was not much food offered, but the tour guide KNEW his stuff... that's worth every penny and hours of sitting.

Alaska Railroad and it's employees are amazing. It's not just a train ride. The views, the food, the beer, the narrator, all were top notch and well worth it!

There is a gift shop, and during Fur Rondy there is a model train set up in the lobby. Other than that, there really isn't much to it.

This is a must do for any family visiting Alaska. What a great to see most of Alaska without the hassle of having to concentrate on driving. The food is quite good as well. This Alaska Depot is clean and friendly and is a Historic building for history buffs. The only thing I wish they would change is they heat... More

The place has charm and history. When we visited they had quaint little model train displays running. There is also a really nice little gift shop. It is free to check it out so stop in for a few minutes.

The train to Fairbanks is not the fastest way to travel, but the scenery and wildlife viewing are great. We had a perfect clear day and many views of Denali. We also saw a few moose and a wolf. OR maybe a fox, nobody was entirely certain!

Go to the Depot to watch people board trains, hit the gift shop to buy a trinket. OR catch the train for one of the adventures yourself.

To enjoy this venue you have to enjoy trains and visit when the modal railway club are there. The quality of exhibits are very good and anchorage doesn't have too many outstanding exhibitions but this is one of them.
