The Cook Inlet is huge and beautiful. It is worth visiting several times. You can walk to it from downtown Anchorage. You can also drive a good length of it from Homer. It attracts a variety of wildlife depending on where you are. Examples are bears searching for clams, beluga, eagles, and a variety of birds.

This is a beautiful place with a large tidal flow. Named after the famous Captain Cook. Very scenic place.

Most beautiful place ever. Mountains, water, snowy peaks, Dall sheep. Stuck in weekend traffic. Didn't matter, bore tide faster than we were, Beluga whales

There is a lot of history with this inlet and the view is priceless. We enjoyed hearing the stories and viewing the mountains.

When we were crossing this area , there was some forest fire , due to which all area was hazy and we couldnt enjoy the view as cars were not allowed to stop at that time and even a day before traffic was blocked for quite a long time

If your in Anchorage easy to find just drive through the town to end and you'll come to it. We visited just south of the commercial area of the shipping area - views were great - snow and ice breaking up in the water ! Worth a drive out there you have to work your way down the side streets... More

My husband and I have lived in Alaska since 1980 and we never tire of the breath-taking beauty of the landscape. We drive around Cook Inlet often. Most of the year, in addition to the mirror-like water and towering snow-capped mountains you can nearly always see Dall sheep on the mountainside to the left, headed south. In the summer you... We always bring visitors from "Outside" here to view from different vantage points. Anywhere north and west of the airport is great for viewing anytime of the year.
