'AurorA - Alaska's Great Northern Lights' is a seasonal 100% Alaskan owned, designed and operated presentation open daily from May 24th through September 1st. 'AurorA' is not a "documentary" about aurora. But rather 'AurorA' is a very rare collection of auroral occurrences over many years showing people worldwide what a remarkable natural event the aurora is across the grand night skies of Alaska. Although mostly photographed with high resolution films in the pre-digital age, with recent leaps in High Definition technology, 'AurorA' is now projected in HD Blu-Ray(R) quality. The introduction has a portion of science about aurora but the rest of the show contains stunning images played to original music scores. This is the result of the desire to capture the absolute best auroral displays Alaska has to offer. Having chased aurora across Alaska since early autumn of 1980, I've found it to be the most difficult subject matter and task to be devoted to. There are countless hours in the field, the need for unending patience, more lost sleep than one can even begin to imagine and my 'office' is extremely cold most of the time.

The AURORA film presentation at the Civic Center is a must for your stop in Anchorage. The building is centrally located in downtown, convenient. I figured since my chances of seeing one of these beautiful rarities is one in zero, this was the next best...More

The gallery is gorgeous. The video very well done; though I do wish the informational piece was a bit longer before going into the instrumental portion with the pictures. It was so relaxing and beautiful though! We did purchase a print to bring home. The...More

Well worth the price of admission. If you can see one in person even better but generally conditions have to be perfect and this is second best.

The Aurora Show was recommended, so we paid the cost of admission and took our seats. The film presented beautiful scenes of Aurora set to music. It was nice, but we did not feel it was worth the price of admission.

The pictures and video are amazing but I was a little disappointed as there is very little narration and very little knowledge imparted about the Aurora borealis. The prints in the entryway are also amazing and reasonably priced but I would probably opt for the...More

The Aurora Show in the arts centre in Anchorage was beyond expectation. The photographs, video and music was very professional and very educational. We also bought a print for framing.

I couldn't believe the beautiful photographic images this man, Charles Parkhust, has captured of the Northern Lights. Some were primarily green; others were vibrant blues and orange hues. The accompanying music to this show was excellent also, especially the piece called "Blue Violin".

We enjoyed this short presentation - - basically 40-minute 'movie' that offered a brief lesson in Aurora's and a lot of very impressive footage captured by a man who spend 30+ years (and many, many, many cold nights) filming the amazingly beautiful northern lights.

The Northern Lights show was beautiful the photography made us feel like we were actually viewing them in person. We also got to meet the photographer he was very warm & personable.
