we made the trip from Anchorage to Fairbanks in November and starting from checking in an hour before(like flights) to getting off the train, this is one amazing trip. They stop the train called wave in stops, where people are dropped/picked up at certain spots along the way. There's a viewing car, dining car and good seats in the regular... More

Took the northbound Anchorage to Fairbanks 12 hr ride with some friends at the start of the season. Great panoramic views, friendly crew and lots of time to ponder. Definitely for nature lovers with almost endless views of trees, hills and mountains (mostly snowcapped), lakes, rivers and its bridges. Lucky enough to see the fully snow covered Denali (Mt McKinley)... More

We were looking for a train excursion that would take in the scenery and wildlife around Denali Park. We found that there is one train per day going to Fairbanks and one train per day going to Anchorage. No short trip, scenic tours. So we decided that I would take the train from Denali to Talkeetna and my husband would... More

Fairbanks station very clean and modern. Conductor had a talk to the waiting passengers before embarking as to safety etc. Fresh food available most of the trip. The carriage had many empty seats so if someone saw an elk or moose they would call out 'Moose on right' etc which made for a friendly atmosphere. Conductor came through often to... More

This is a great trip from Anchorage to Fairbanks. My six year old was not thrilled with the trip after the first hour (made the 8 hour trip long) but at least we can get up and move around. The food was not great but the service was wonderful and friendly. All the staff were able to point out landmarks... More

My wife and I took this train from Fairbanks to Anchorage in late February. I wondered if a 12-hour train ride might get to be too long, and I took along reading material, etc, to pass the time. I didn't even open a book, the whole time. The scenery was absolutely amazing, the whole way. It was a great mix... More

My husband and I took this train from Anchorage to Fairbanks in late December. The train was boarded very orderly and train staff was very helpful. The trip to Fairbanks took just under 12 hours, which is long, but the train is a very comfortable way to travel. Ample seat space and ability to get up and walk around is... More

Friendly staff, service and views were a part of this great train ride from Fairbanks to anchorage. You would not think a 12 hour ride could be enjoyable but 3 delicious meals and snacks and drinks are available, a supervisor who points out so many interesting facts along the way - thanks Dan who also made sure my wife was...
