Beautiful park with stunning views of the city and many nature trails to hike. The Asian Art Museum is housed on the grounds and is lovely itself.
The reservoir is about 1/4 mile round trip to walk around and is fun to walk. The duck ponds are cute and filled with waterfowl.
In the summer, there are free concerts and dance events in the amphitheater.
FABULOUS PARK! A gem in Seattle and fun to explore it all.

Volunteer Park is a city park in the Capital Hill neighborhood of Seattle. It is hilly so wear comfortable shoes. Home to the Conservatory and the Seattle Asian Art Museum. Olmsted designed this park. Named for the war dead in the Spanish-American War.

Volunteer Park is located in north-east of Seattle, up high overlooking the downtown area so you can catch a glimpse of the downtown buildings and the space needle. This park is amazing if you have not been here before. its full of wonderful surprises and should be a must visit when visiting Seattle. First if you are music fan, you'll see the Black Sun sculpture which was the inspiration for Soundgarden's black-hole sun song from 90s. its also a great photo spot as you can manage to see the space needle through the hole of the black sun sculpture... but there is more.. you have lots of trails to walk around this "very green" park, if its open, the water tower observatory is a fun attraction and if its not its a fabulous structure for some great photos. Come visit the Seattle Asian Art museum which is located in an amazing art deco building overseeing the city. There is also the conservatory and museum and amphitheatre... also park reservoir , couple ponds and my favourite part.... within this large city and built up park you still manage to see some amazing old red wood trees with 10-12' base.. its incredible that these giants were left alone for us to enjoy. one can only image what this entire area looked like some 400-500 years ago. truly wonderful park and free to enter.

This park is very nice. It's spacious, fun, and very peaceful and relaxing (mostly). The only downside is that it seems to be a bit of a hangout for stoners, which, while harmless, does make a bit of a smell and can take away from the relaxation if you don't like the smell of pot. On the plus side, there is more than plenty of parking.

A lovely place to take a break from the hustle and bustle of the concrete city. Take a walk, a photo or a breath. Enjoy!

Walking through Volunteer park we spotted the red brick Water Tower that was built in 1906 as part of the Olmstead Exhibition. As it commands the highest view on Capitol Hill, at 444.5 feet (135.5 m) above sea level, we thought that it would be good to climb to the top and get a 360 degree view of downtown Seattle, Lake Washington, Mount Rainier (on a clear day), and the Space Needle. The water tower has no charge to enter, but does have 106 metal stairs to climb to the top, and can be slippery on a wet day. Once at the top and after catching your breath, walk all the way round the tower, and check out the explanation boards, on the walls full of local facts. Unfortunately, all the windows are covered with safety grills (I think this is to deter locals after days of depressing weather taking the short cut down).
TIP: If you have trouble climbing, claustrophobic or faint of heart this is not for you.

Volunteer park has lovely panoramic views of the city, Shakespearean plays and other activities for free. It's fun to just lay on the grass here

This is a beautiful old park any time of the year. Lots of friendly people and dogs, old trees and the gorgeous Conservatory (featured in the movie, The Hand that Rocks the Cradle). Space Needle is best viewed through the "Black Hole Sun" (the sculpture that people are referring to as a bagel or donut).

This park is located in the middle of Seattle. It offers beautiful views of the city. But mostly, there is one place, in the middle of the park, where the pond is, where you have a beautiful view of the space needle.
