I did the 3 day Mount Baker climb with Miyar earlier this year, it was my first experience with backpacking/mountaineering. I had so much fun and felt so well taken care of I decided to sign up for the rock climbing class as well! All the staff is very friendly and willing to help with anything you need, as well as whenever I emailed with questions I heard back within 24 hours.

Guided climb of Mt Shuksan via the Sulfide Glacier for five climbers. Thanks to Miyar Adventures for a overall successful and super fun trip. Miyar staff was very supportive and flexible in planning the trip. Glacier conditions on Mt Shuksan were changing rapidly on the mountain due to a heat wave in the area. Our climbing group as a whole was relatively new to glacier travel, so we were all very happy to have a strong guiding team. Day 1 we met our guides first thing in the am at Ascent Outdoors in Ballard, Seattle. (The owner of Miyar Adventures, Sandeep, also owns the store, so this was super convenient for us to do gear checks and some purchases and rentals at the store). After gear checks, we headed up to the Shannon Ridge Trailhead (3hr drive ending in several miles on potholed forest roads -- high clearance recommended, but not required). Our lower elevation climbing started at around 90F, but we quickly got up on the ridge into cooler weather and then set up camp on stable snow at the toe of the glacier. The next day our guides Zeno and Chloé gave us excellent classes on snow safety (self-arresting), glacier travel, rock climbing, and general mountaineering skills. The third day we were up super early for our our summit push and our guides did a fantastic job of route-finding, dealing with multiple crevasses, and setting up our belays and rappels up and down the 500' high rocky summit mound. Our experience on the mountain, as well as the approach hike up and down, was filled with amazing views, fun conversation, and much learning along the way. Thanks to the whole Miyar team for making this a special weekend for our climbing group!

At first we were a little disappointed because our trail loop had been changed. However, once we got going and saw the spectacular views we were in awe! Our Miyar guides Anne and Deim were outstanding. They gave us lots of tips to lighten our load and make our adventure enjoyable. The fresh food they cooked was yummy. Instant oatmeal never tasted so good. Thank you Sandeep for the use of your vehicles. It was much appreciated.
