I can't even try to deny the building looks great from the outside. But that is the limit of it, it simply doesn't have a soul. It's frenetic and confused and in some respects down right ugly on the inside. The mixing chamber has the...More

Very cool structure, huge library, friendly staff, easy to explore. I signed up for a card during my extended stay here in Seattle and am very glad that I did.

Very large library, plenty of reading space and computers. Staff are friendly. It's fun to walk around even if you're just visiting Seattle.

LOVED the downtown Main Library in Seattle. Check out the 3rd floor - wow-sers! The tour to do is to take the escalator UP to the top and then the elevator DOWN to the 3rd floor. VERY impressive!

If you're into a small city, Seattle, opening its pastoral ways to contemporary life - take a look at the Seattle Public Library and enjoy books, and so much more while taking a break or just being in awe of design.

We were a little perplexed by all the recommendations to go to the library, but now understand the hoopla. For anyone who frequents a library, this very modern facility will convince you there is hope for the future of libraries. The views are astounding.

This library has it all. A very modern building resembles a stack of books. There are computers for public use. A fun map room with a topographical globe.

We happened upon the library and had heard it was great. We heard the story about the window washers are actually rock climbers who outbid regular window washers so the equipment has never been used. On a rainy day it’s still a really nice place....More

There's actually parking in the building, but I suspect it is quite pricey. In general, you'll manage downtown Seattle better without a car. There is pretty decent bus service. And you can walk. It's a relatively... More

The Friends of the Seattle Public LIbrary collect and sell books for the benefit of the library budget. You can find out more by going to the main library's web site or to that of the Friends themselves.
