This is my first online purchase from Pure Foods. I ordered 4 ponds of crab legs - 2 lb collosal king, 2 lb Bairdi clusters. I've ordered lots of online Alaskan crab over the years but my first here. I know it's frozen so some of the weight is water within the shell. But I've never had the the legs actually encased in ice. Once removed the ice amounted to a half pound lost which at crab leg prices is expensive. I know I'll lose more weight when it thaws but that part is more or less expected. The least they could do is remove the legs from excessive moisture before freezing.
I'll amend this review when I've prepared and eaten the legs.

I was told by a colleague, if you want to bring halibut steaks home, go to Pure Food Fish. First, they are very friendly, second they cut the steaks to size and individually wrapped them. Third and the best...they delivered the box to my hotel so I didnt have to carry it around. (Box, packing and delivery only $25.) The halibut was perfect that weekend on the grill. Thanks for superior service!

There was a sign that said $29/lb sticking out right where the crab legs were. I asked the young man helping me, how much I get for a pound, and he picked out two for me and we also got some scallops for a special dinner. When we got home and my husband said it was $75 I knew something was wrong. So we call them and I was told the price of crab LEGS is $45/lb and Crab CLAWS is $29. There was no sign saying the legs were $45/lb and I tell the young man who said his name is JUNIOR, that I feel I was misled. Then Junior tells me NOBODY there would sell me crab legs for $29. He says, “ YOU MIGHT BE SPECIAL, BUT YOU’RE NOT THAT SPECIAL”. I told him he was being mean but he wouldn’t adjust the price. They swindled me the insulted me.

We picked out a lobster tail here, almost as a joke. But they were very serious about it - they apparently ship them all over the world. I don't know if these lobsters are just very old and that's why their tails alone are 3 pounds, or if they have a local species of monster-sized lobsters. But these tails were huge, and the real deal. We got our tail shipped to us the day after we returned home, and used a recipe from the market's website to cook it, and it turned out great. I then used the bones to make seafood stock, which I have used to make several dishes (cioppino and paella, for starters). So it turned out to be a very worthwhile purchase, not a joke at all!

We bought a "20" pound halibut to take home on Sunday for $16.99/lb. When we arrived home and opened up the box, half of the box was filled with ice packs and we only received 12 pieces of fish that added up to 12 pounds. So, our halibut ended up costing us $26/lb. Two pieces of smoked salmon for $32.50/lb was a TOTAL RIPOFF.

I spoke to Neil to let him know it was a total Bait and Switch and he argued with me and justified the whole process. The seafood is NOT good enough for the scam they are representing. Don't bother buying anything from them, its not worth it.

If you love alderwood smoked salmon as much as I do, you have to stop by for a sample, and see for yourself. It's moist and flavorful, and 10 bucks cheaper per pound than the the other famous (flying) fish market. I always bring home at least a pound. I also picked up a pound of the garlic-pepper smoked salmon during my last visit, and I think it's my new fave.

You don't buy here to save money - you buy here to get the most amazing seafood. The prices are competitive with other Pikes Place fish market choices. We just finished eating our smoked salmon with cream cheese on bagels and it was to die for. We ordered sockeye salmon, Halibut and smoked salmon. All 3 are just wonderful! Plus we received them overnight 2 days after we returned home.
I would say - watch what they charge you (a bit of a mystery on how they calculate) but expect great fish!

Do NOT buy your fish here. I traveled to Seattle for the reason of fresh quality fish. This place seemed reasonable on pricing which was a mistake. I took 70$ of fish home for the grill. The sea bass I bought was so rancid it stunk the refrigerator up so bad it ruined all of my other food and the trip sick for 3 days. The fish stunk even through it was on the grill. Had a terrible pungent ammonia taste. So learn from me there are 3 others in the market to buy from. Just dont buy from pure food fish.

I'm a local and have shopped there a few times. A few times I have asked for a one inch cut off the end of a wild salmon and they usually cut closer to two inches. They put my piece on the scale quickly and quote a real ROUND price. Last time I asked them to re-weigh my piece to show me the weight on their scale and to compute the actual price according to the per pound weight. The adjustment was substantial. I don't think I'll go back. I have always felt very rushed and somewhat hustled.

I have been pleased in the past while shopping in person and have shopped there many times. I would recommend only patronizing this company in person. However, there are many others to choose from in Seattle with equally good fish. Phone orders are problematic. Their ability to communicate by phone is limited. They do not give complete information. They stated it is not their policy to issue receipts. Their interest in answering questions or listening to a full explanation of a question is nil. I will not be purchasing from this company again.
