The only time you can get a real good look at the lighthouse is at low tide. If you want to look very long, make sure it is a very low tide, and don't get caught out there. That said, it is a very neat, and pretty lighthouse at a very scenic point on the sound.

My friend dragged me along on her lighthouse obsession. I didn't think I would like it but I did. Make sure to bring a camera.

I wasn't in town on a Sunday so I knew that I wouldn't be able to get a tour, but I did want to see it. So I drove to the lighthouse and easily found a parking spot on the street. I walked to the beach to the left of the lighthouse and then walked on the beach back to the lighthouse. I was able to clearly see the lighthouse from outside the fence and was also able to get a clear picture.

The Reason I gave this one star is because it is only open from may - August. I am sure it is cool when you can go.

Having been to many lighthouses, this pales in comparison. It is on a Coast Guard station, so hours of access are limited. You walk to the lighthouse, climb to the top is you want and leave. The volunteers had limited information which would not mean anything if you had not been on tours at other lighthouses. A view from the beach would provide as much of a visit.

We found the front gate open. There were signs on the telephone poles advertising tours. We went inside and got chewed out by some lady. They were having a private party. She said there was a sign and when we went back out there was... it was postage size compared to the rest of the signs and we had missed it entirely. Still it doesn't excuse her rudeness. We are visitors to Seattle from out of state. Gave us a bad taste in our mouths about the whole state!

We knew the light house would be closed for tours however, we thought we would get some good outside shots and views back to Downtown Seattle. Unfortunately it was not easy to locate and most access points were private property. Would try again in summer months when tours run.

We drove to Alki Point and located the lighthouse. It was fenced in and on private property so we could not get a great picture. We saw it the next day from the Ferry to Bainbridge Island and got better pictures that way. The views of the Seattle skyline and the Olympic Mountains on the drive to and from the lighthouse were pretty spectacular.
