Union Station Great Hall is worth a visit if you look old American buildings. It's very large inside and the restoration is quite nice.

TIP: Check days & hours it's open to the public before you go.
We stopped by on a Sunday and the station was closed but we were able to peer in the windows and see the grand structure. Thankfully, King Street Station was under 5 minutes walk away and that was open to us since it is an active station that serves Amtrak Trains.
If you like old historic train buildings it is easy to see 2 stations in close proximity (Union and King St. Stations).

Anyone who has spent time riding trains will appreciate how only train station architects could produce interiors known for grand, arched rooflines and horrid acoustics! My older son and I figured that sound decay was about five seconds in this place. Try one of the standard high-back, wooden benches, too, for full effect.

It's quieter now than in it's past, but still a great place to use a clean restroom, find respite from the weather and apparently rent for a posh downtown party. The security guard was nice and helped point me in the right direction as I was headed from Chinatown to Occidental Square. Stop in to see what a real metropolitan train station from the past looked like.

Such a beauty of early 20th century architecture. Thank God the foresighted northwesterners saved this beauty. If nothing else, stop in and hit the pits while you are bouncing around.

Union Station Great Hall was constructed between 1910 and 1911
It was originally named Oregon and Washington Station, after a subsidiary line of the Union Pacific.
The station was operating until 1971, then remained empty. After renovation is used for many events(including the weddings parties).
Beautiful interior brings people who like architectural gems.
I recommend this place.
