Nice park on Lake Washington. We wanted to get in a little workout so brought our rollerskis along and did a couple laps around the park. The trails aren't as smooth as some of the other local options, and probably a little more crowded, but easily skiable and a great location.

My husband and I visited Seattle after an Alaskan cruise. A bartender recommended Seward Park as a place to spend an afternoon outside. I’m so glad we took her advice! We ubered from downtown and spend an idyllic few hours walking through the old growth forest and enjoying the views of the water. Mt Rainier was unbelievable!

Where else can you sit on the beach and have a direct view of Mount Rainier? Absolutely stunning setting and a lovely walk looping around the park. Highly recommend.

On a cold March Sunday the park was reasonably light on visitors. I imagine it could become quite crowded on a warmer sunny summer day. The lake is beautiful and people swim in it (not in March!). We used one playground area. The surfaces were soft. There was a mini zip line for young children. A walk through the old growth forest followed. Despite the gloom of the day it was great to see signs of spring in the breaking blossoms and pale green leaves. Parking was easy, but there are signs warning of thefts from cars, so be sure to hide well anything you need to leave in your car. How long you allocate for a visit would obviously depend on your ability to remove children from the playground and how far you want to venture in the woods and along the side of the lake.

Great public park. There are fantastic views to be had and you can be right up on the waterfront. Haven't had the chance to swim there in the summer yet but I want to!

What we like the most is taking walks / runs in the forest. It is so nice to have a breath of fresh air right close to the city. While in the forest it truly feels to me like a different world and I don't feel like I am in a city at all. You can walk, bike, picnic, swim, sunbathe, play tennis, and more.

We enjoyed a walk around the peninsula that forms the park; it's less than three miles long and is equally pleasant for bikers and dog walkers. The interior of the park is accessible by car and there are many walking paths, up and down hills, unlike the level path below. There's a wonderful playground near the entrance with even a zip line for little folks. A pottery on the grounds offers classes and the staff in the environmental center are knowledgable and eager to help.

A quiet and peaceful place to breathe and walk among the trees.

As well as the trails, there are a couple of miles of asphalt where you can ride or walk. Lots of places to sit and watch the ducks and the water skiers. There is an actual beach with a designated area for swimming. There are also smaller pebble areas where you can paddle or swim.

Take a picnic and just enjoy.

Note - I went on a weekday. It might be less peaceful on the weekend.

My favorite park in Seattle, located in the necklace of path and parks along Lake Washington. Family and jogger/walker focused path is close to 3 miles with plenty of room for tourists and locals (unlike narrow Green Lake). Begin at the patch of sandy beach with life guard and laughing picnicing families, walk past Andrews Bay viewing gorgeous boats anchored and rafted near you, continue with huge cedars and firs on both sides, and finish in a large playground where small children zoom past on a little zipline. If a storm kicks up, just take the trails uphill in the trees and escape the wind and rain.
Cons: a park donated to be 'wilderness', it does not seem to follow its mission. There are roads and parking lots and amphitheater and now another playground planned.
Restrooms take a beating from the races that are held here, as does the lawn area. Canadian geese and ducks leave droppings heavily in the children beach area and along swim water

This park has a great playground for the kids and offered some really awesome views of Mt. Rainier. My only issue is that it does seem like there are some issues with crime and break ins. I had a woman who was a complete stranger offer me chocolates, as well as offering them to my kids, and I told them not to accept. She may have been harmless, but I couldn't help but feel like it was a bit odd.
