Description:

SAM has been the center for world-class visual arts in the Pacific...

SAM has been the center for world-class visual arts in the Pacific Northwest since 1933. Visit SAM to see a museum carved into the city, as much a part of Seattle's landscape and personality as the coffee, rain, mountains, Pike Place Market, and the Space Needle.

Our three distinct locations celebrate the region's position as a crossroads where east meets west, urban meets natural, local meets global. Our collections, installations, special exhibitions, and programs feature art from around the world and build bridges between cultures and centuries.

A well curated selection of American art, including native. But 25 bucks for entry with a special exhibition, which was do-able in 20 minutes, was a bit steep.

Great museum and now in the entrance foyer John Grade's Middle Fork sculpture, about 75 feet long, hangs from the ceiling. Awesome piece of work.

A really lovely museum walking distance from Pike Place Market. Check for free days, too! If you only have 2 hours, you can still get through a lot, and check for free admission days, too!

As someone who appreciates art museums of all styles and sizes, I really enjoyed the eclectic mix of artists and collections at the SAM. The African Art exhibit was exceptional and the Porcelain Room was fascinating. I would return to this museum and would recommend it to others.

The building was appropriate and nice. Great location within a couple of blocks of Pike Place. The art was well-curated and displayed. Lots of important work by important artists through the ages.

The new exhibit, Seeing Nature, Landscape Masterworks from the Paul G. Allen family collection, opened today to enthusiastic crowds (and I'm sure reviews). SAM knows how to attract these awesome exhibits regularly and this one knocks it out of the ballpark. Of course Paul Allen is a Seattle native, which makes it all the more special. If half of the... SAM is always changing up their displays and everytime I decide to stop to see the new exhibits, Im very happy I did. Our museum is loaded with known works, but SAM is fresh and engaging, humorous and very interesting. Ive never been bored.
