Pleasant afternoon in Kings Mountain Park

The park is great for an afternoon adventure. Kids may get a little antsy, more walking and looking at history, not as many "hands on" type activities like a museum. The park was immaculate. No trash, nice pathways, friendly rangers. Pay attention to the hours, they do close at 5:00pm.

We didn't get to spend much time at the park, so I can't comment on the hiking or outdoor experience to be had. The video at the info center about the battle at King's Mountain was interesting. Unfortunately, we had to cut our visit short to deal with other business and didn't get to explore the museum. I would definitely... More

This was such an interesting park to visit. There's a little info center that includes a 25 minute film, small museum, and little gift shop. I was surprised how much information about this battle was available. It was a beautiful 1.5 mile walk around the battleground filled with markers and information. There's also an audio tour available by calling a... More

In sort -- not large but well done, excellent exhibits and wonderful 45 min movie putting the battles there into perspective. Well worth it.

If you wanna get in shape walking ,Well this is the place. a one mile Battle ground trail or take the three mile hike to the Campground. Giving you over six miles round trip. Take plenty of water and snacks because there a store at the Campground ,But it's not always open.

This was the beginning of the end for the British. For the first time, the rebellious colonists chased down the British who were fleeing them and when they caught them, destroyed them. It was a glorious victory that turned the tide for American freedom. King's Mountain was fought 10/7/1780 and Cowpens 1/17/1781. It is about 30 minutes by car from... More

After visiting Cowpens National Battlefield, we stopped at King's Mountain. They have a very nice interpretive center and the forested area is beautiful. There is a 1.5 mile trail loop that leads to the upper area of the mountain and two primary monuments (one to the area where colonial forces turned the tide of battle and one commemorating the battle... I have been here with guests who are not very mobile, and those who could walk all day. First, at the visitor center the 30 minute movie is very, very good. It's both informative and entertaining, and a new visitor to the Charlotte area learns that history in the area goes back to Revolutionary War times. There is a walk... More

Beautiful little 1.5 mile loop hike. Trail is fairly easy and on a paved path with plenty of benches to stop and rest if you need but bring your own water. Dogs are allowed, just must be on a leash. The trail head says to go counter clockwise but if you go clockwise you go downhill on the "big" hill... More
