Good walking trails around a Civil War Battle site

Parking available at the visitor centre and the site is free. Walked a few of the trails around the battle site up the hill to Mount Kennesaw and again up to Little Kennesaw, and through the woodland on the Pidgeon Loop trail. The paths were well defined, there were information boards on the battle and some old canons and rifle... More

One of the first places that I visited when I moved to Georgia nearly 20 years ago was Kennesaw mountain. It is a beautiful park with multiple ares of interest. The park is worth a visit regardless of season. There is a paved trail (also used for vehicles) to the summit parking area as well as hiking options. I have... More

First of all, parking is difficult at the visitors center, but you must go there. The film is so fabulous at describing the events. Then, before you leave your parking spot, walk up the mountain, or take the shuttle bus. We watched the film, and went to our car, and headed out, only to realize that we were at the... More

We visited on a beautiful day. The trails were very nice. The video in the visitors center was very informative. The museum there was very nice as well. The staff was helpful. The view from the mountain was awesome.

My son and I made a brief visit to the park during our drive back to Ohio from Tampa. We drove to the top of the mountain and took in the amazing views and then spent some time puttering around the visitor center. Parking was crazy, even on Good Friday, but we lucked out and found a spot in the... More

Hiking...history...amazing views...what a treasure! The Visitors Center is great...the entire park is so clean and well maintained. Perfect for any level hiking, walking enthusiast. Side note...my brother (visiting from out of town) unknowingly dropped his wallet on the trail...didn't discover it until hours later. I suggested he call the visitor center and see if anyone turned it in. He laughed,... More

Great views of Atlanta and the surrounding area from the top of the mountain. You can shuttle up and down if not in the mood for the walk on the paved road or the hike up the trails. The drive to the surrounding battlefield sites is very nice.

The nation's most-visited battlefield park is a great place. And there's so much to see and do that so many people don't know about! The trails are great. Be prepared to have a hard time finding a place to park if it is a nice day! Be sure to check out the Illinois Monument down at Cheatham Hill. Don't limit... More
