Soft, clean sand and safe bay.

Beautiful bay! Sea life, beautiful, soft sand, showers, picnic area and parking plus bathrooms/changing area. A little walk over a few rocks but worth it!

One of the larger (although still small) sandy beaches near Kona. The color of the water was breath taking. Good body surfing area

We stopped by this beach for a few hours one day. The ride out is really an adventure...you go over a very un-even and pothole filled lava road for a number of miles before getting here. We parked at the end and went straight forward to the main beach. The beach was very pretty and there was some salt and... More

"Kua Bay" is one of the better choices on The Kona side of Big island. The availability is very good, with a smaller road leading of from the highway that in the south pass by the Keahole airport. The beach in itself is a sand beach, but surrounded by lava rock, which, besides giving it a cool character, is pretty... More

The beach is one of most beautiful beaches in the world. The water is warm enough that you can spend hours in it. it's color is turquoise blue and very clear. The best part are the waves in the winter months. They can get big and are a lot of fun.

This is a beautiful beach. Not much sand, but very beautiful. We went in the morning as the tides were changing, so beach was tiny. We saw dolphins and whales off shore. Water was a beautiful color.

I went there based on the rave reviews it has received. What I found was an over-crowded beach with minimal places to spread out your belongings, sharp lava rock which is sometimes not evident to the eye as a thin layer of sand may hide it (Go barefoot at your own risk), a small area to really boogie board and... This is a little cove of crystal blue water tucked between some rocks. Not much sand, but if you get there early you can find a perch on some rocks and access the water. Be sure to have tough feet or wear beach shoes, as it it very rocky in places.

We have been to most of the beaches on Hawaii but somehow missed this one. It's proximity to Kona and paved access makes it very popular, but it's not great if you have mobility issues. The sand beach access to the water is the highlight as you can get in without walking on rocks, everyone was having a blast playing... More

I hesitate to bring any more attention to this place. I wish we had discovered it sooner as I could have spent so much more time there! Beautiful.
