In the summer this beach area is just the best. Beautiful water and sand, great for kids and adults for swimming and playing. In the afternoon smaller waves come in for body and boogie boarding. You can also snorkel here in the mornings and there...More

The parking lot is small and it's a slightly steep walk down some uneven rocks if you have issues with that it should be taken into consideration. But it's so worth the walk (which isn't far by the way). The water is stunning and the...More

Beautiful beach to take your family to, I would recommend going early in the morning and getting out by noon. If you wait til rush hour, headed back to Kona you will get stuck in traffic for an hour or more.

My husband and I were desperate for a beach on our recent trip to the Big Island. Someone at our hotel suggested Sandy Beach, but one look at that beach made us think twice as it was very small. We found Kua Bay and we...More

The beach is white sand and water is beautiful at Kua Bay. The walk to the beach may be difficult for some people, it does require some walking down a few rocks.

This beach is one of the only pure white sand (not lava) beaches on the Island of Hawaii and is easily reached from the Kialua Kona area. I is North of the Kona International Airport and easy to find. You will not find a better...More

Ok, it's the best within the reasonable driving time. Cute, little, white sands, perfect calm waves. What you would expect a beach to be in Hawaii. So, just perfect

Also the walk down to the sandy area is a little challenging if you have knee issues or are more life experienced. But overall it's a decent little spot, some rocks to snorkel around and see the usual yellow tang. When we were there the...More

This beach was the most beautiful beach I have ever been to (many in Caribbean, Cabo, FL) The water was so clear, the sand so white, and the giant lava rocks were a great bit of scenery. Saw a sea turtle swim by, swam out...More

From Hwy 19 north of Kona airport, look for the sign "West Hawaii Veterans Cemetery". Instead of going inland to the cemetery, drive opposite towards the sea. From the parking at the end of the access road, it is only few... More

I'm not a great swimmer but would like to see some pretty coral. Is this a good location or is there somewhere better to go?

If you are not a great swimmer, this is not the beach to go to for coral. There is some reef to see, but you have to swim around a point. There are better places to get in more easily. Honestly, as a novice swimmer I... More
