Certainly one of the most scenic beaches. Turquoise water and white sand. The waves get big here are are great for boogie boarding. Keep you kids close though as they are powerful. Lots of parking along the road down to the beach. There is a small food truck sometimes down by the washrooms.

This beach sums up what you expect from a Hawaiian beach : beautiful blue and turquoise water, big waves and white fluffy sand beach. To locate this beach coming from Waikoloa is just on the right turn when you see the sign for the Veterans Cemetery on Hwy 19, if coming from the airport turn left. This place is popular... More

This is such a great spot. Lots of parking, easy access, shower and washrooms and a food truck. On days when the surf is not too big this is a great spot to snorkel. My husband and I saw some fish and swam with a few turtles. On days when the surf is bigger this is a great place to... More

Kua Bay is a beautiful beach off the main highway, just a few miles north of Kona Airport. Tokened one of the best white sand beaches of the Big Island and for good reason, the sand is perfection. The waters are crystal clear and there's a great rock hill with tidepools to wander in. There's also a little nook to... More

This is the nearest easily accesible large white sand beach close to Kailua Kona. There are a few small beaches in Kona Town, but if you want a large picturesque white sand beach head for Kua. It's just a few minutes north of the airport. The road isn't marked so look for the Veteran's Cemetery on the right, and take... More

This is a lovely beach, there is a food truck before you get to the beach. Loved this beach, we were lucky to see a monk seal that had beached itself for 2 weeks to molt (very cool - and they had some volunteers educating people and ensuring everyone stayed away from the seal).

This is a great beach for boogie boarding and body surfing - my husband and 12 year old son were in heaven. The day we arrived, the surf was a little rough and the water was extremely crowded. My 8 year old was having a very hard time finding space and the waves crashed over him very hard. I was... More

My daughter boogie boarded for over 4 hours without stopping. She was in heaven. Nice beach. A bit crowded. Food truck. A short walk down to beach. A monk seal sleeping on the beach was a huge treat for us to see, and volunteers were there to protect her and educate the kids. This will forever be the Seal Beach... More

About a 30 min drive North from Kona, I highly recommend that people make a stop here for a beautiful day at the beach. Plenty of space, and the waves aren't as strong as the White Sands beach we went to, so it's a great place to frolick around in the water and try your hand at boogie boarding. While... More

We saw a lot of families enjoying this beach. It is a good place for boogie boarding. You have to walk down a little across manageable rocks to get to the beach. Parking is free and there's a little truck that sells poke, wraps and flavored ice. A good place to spend your day.
