It's abit of fun to drive down the middle of an old runway. It brings out the child to pretend to be a pilot. The beach is not really swimmable but is a nice location to sit and relax.

We watched a serene sunset on this beach. I think this might be the best place to watch the sunset in all of Kona! The beach was quiet and calm when we were there, with very few other people around. I'd definitely come back here.

While on our recent visit, I needed to get in several training runs and this location turned out to be perfect. It is right on the ocean. You can run the old runway and there is a 3/4 mile path right off the run way...More

Some white sand on the beach, but lava flows and rocks abound in the water. There were trees here and there for SOME shade. A very pleasant area to hang out. Bathrooms available and plenty of parking. Great snorkeling with lots of fish. Calm waters.

This one's close to the village of Kailua-Kona. But you may not want to walk there, unless you don't mind walking a mile or two. But it's well worth the effort to get there.

We stopped at this park to view one last sunset on our way to the airport It is an easily accessible beach with wonderful sunset views. There were a bunch of surfers that were fun to watch. Nice bathroom facilities.

In our quest to find the perfect snorkeling spot we found this Rec. area. Though not the best for snorkeling, we enjoyed a few hours there at the various access points to the water.

Sorry I cannot specifically answer your question. I would suggest you speak with someone in the city/county offices as this is a park.
