It is called Magic Sands because in high tide and wave seasons the sand is moved offshore exposing the black rock underneath it. Generally Spring and Summer are the best times to visit. Check out the county park just a bit South of Magic Sands....More

This is a great place to body surf or paddle board; parking can be tight on weekends; nice sandy beach. This is close to town and beach has a life guard.

Nice, small beach in Kona. worth visiting if you are staying in town. Otherwise, I wouldn't make the effort as there are better places to see.
