An historic church that is part of the Kalaupapa Tour

To get to St. Philomena's you must take a guided tour of the Kalaupapa peninsula. Kalaupapa is both beautiful and quite sad considering its history. A moving place of sad history.

We loved it here.

This is one place that we would really like to go visit again. It was so peaceful here. Father Damien's gravesite is here along with many others including Brother Dutton.

Beautiful church. Holy site.

This is where St. Damien served and Brother Dutton is buried. The site next door, largely unmarked, is the holy site of hundreds of patients.

Very spiritual place in memory of a troubled time

This will be part of the Damien tour. You can definitely feel a "presence" here of Father (now (Saint Damian) and the thousands of poor souls that he comforted. God Bless.
