We hiked down and met Father Damien Tours at the bottom. The hike is not so bad, just a bunch of stairs. The trailhead is easy to drive right by! Oddly enough, the trailhead is marked ' Palau state park.' We arrived a little before...More

Visit on Mondays and Tuesdays because you get the extra treat of a truly incredible music experience as well. Rick the bus driver sang Island songs with the other driver. It was a fabulous experience adding to the touching story of the patients and their...More

I recently hiked the Kalaupapa (Pali ) trail with my wife this December 2017. We obtained hiking permits and hiked down the Pali Trail, took the Damien Tour of Kalaupapa, and returned back up the trail (6.25 miles 52 switchbacks in all!) Do Not take...More

What not to like hiking to the North Shore of Molokai! One must be prepared with plenty of water, good shoes and time to meet the tour group at 10am! Must take tour to visit park! Great story of humanity of love and compassion

I have wanted to hike down to Kalaupapa Peninsula for years, and I can now say, I did it! My husband and I hiked in and out. It is a beautiful hike, but I will not sugar coat; it is unbelievably hard on the knees...More

After taking the mule ride down the mountain, we climbed in a small bus at the base and were given sandwiches and drinks as we toured the settlement and outlying coastal areas. We toured three churches, the settlements, the cemetaries and the mass graves. Some...More

This spot is not of this world, both physically and spiritually. We flew in from Maui via the "topside" airport (travel on Makani Kai airlines was a treat in itself and a chance for great views of Maui and Molokai). As the aircraft approached the...More

Any way you get there you need to go to Kalaupapa!! My favorite way to get down there is hiking. It is not an easy hike, but it is beautiful!!

Most people we saw took mule rides down the cliff. I hiked. There are a lot of switch backs so it doesn't feel too steep. The view is breath taking. The 1.5 hr hike is fulfilling. I didn't feel rushed or too hot. The tour...More

You can book a bus tour of Molokai through an agent, but it doesn't include Kalaupapa. Check out Fr. Damien tours. The website explains the options for visiting the peninsula itself.
