We hiked from Fuschl through the wooded mountainside to the path to the castle ruins. We did not ascend to the highest part of the summit as it was becoming increasingly steep. There is a small cafe open from 12:00 at the start of the...More

This us great for the views but don't expect it to be easy. The top section is on agree type paths and at the very top there is a lot of climbing over rock, a bit scary definitely not for the faint hearted. We were...More

The climb up for most part of it is really easy, and the great views of the lakes keep you entertained. The green of the pastures and the blue of the water is so beautiful high up from the trail and the top of the...More

We followed the trail as far as the Wartenfels ruin and the views were stunning. We also saw deer, hare and woodpecker on the way! The trail is well posted and we found it do-able even though we are not regular walkers, although we are...More

It really wasn't that difficult. It maybe took us an hour to reach the top via the most steep trail, and WOW, it was worth EVERY step! Incredible views all around, absolutely incredible photo ops. Bring water and a picnic for the top!

There's two main possibilities to reach Schober and Frauenkopf. One is the slightly steeper version which passes by Wartenfels ruin, the other one towards Frauenkopf. For the former, you should be comfortable to hike some exposed sections especially in the top part (holding on to...More

The way to the top of the Schober and Frauenkopf Mountain was quite an adventure. During the last part of the journey you have rather to climb than to hike. Only for experienced persons with good physical condition.

My wife and I successfully climbed it, but it sure wasn't easy for us. I'm still perplexed as to how we were constantly passed by old Austrian folks with trekking poles! It was foggy at the top (which is a rocky peak with a wooden...More

This got lost in translation for us a little as we were expecting a waterfall when in fact the Wartenfel ruins are a ruin or folly with no waterfall in sight - our fault entirely !! This was as far as we got as the...More
