Despite the fact that this campground appears on the Custer State Park map, it is actually in a National Forest. The pit toilets are clean and unlit, presumably to dissuade insects. On the InterWebs, we chose site 3. Unbeknownst to us, it was well below...More

Beautiful, accessible lake. When we were visiting a man was fishing. Strollers, wheelchairs, walkers, canes are no problem here. Everyone can enjoy this beautiful, small lake.

We stayed 4 nights in July (site #4) at Bismarck Lake campground. The campground is beautiful, with plenty of room between sites, all of which are surrounded by towering ponderosa pine trees. Several sites have views of the lake through the trees (#4 was one...More

The site that we had, number six, was the most unique and beautiful site we've ever had. It (& the next door site 7) overlooked Bismarck Lake in the Black Hills National Forest through a series of Pine and Aspen trees and was surrounded by...More

23 sites if which 17 are reservable and the other 6 are first come first serve. It is a little difficult for a big rig to get into some of the sites (18-23), but we were ok with spot 18 and 19 was good too....More

The campground is lovely and the lake is so pretty! I loved many of the campsites - delineated pads over looking the lake as well as the general campsites. The lake has a terrific trail that leads to an overlook of Stockade Lake that's really...More

This campground is not too far from Custer and right next to Bismark Lake. It's a well maintained campground and the pit toilets were very clean. There have been a pair of osprey close by the last few years. Lots of people fishing, good for...More

Custer State Park in total is a wonderful place and Bismark Lake Campground is just on of many destinations within the Park. Close to Lake Doran (now Stockade Lake) and built in the 30s by the CCC.

We were off the beaten path with camp site #3 and that's just the way we like it! Friendly hosts, nice fellow campers, quite park, beautiful views. We didn't realize that the campground has no showers, but the local YMCA has showers for $5. We...More

This is the very best, most beautiful, cleanest campsite we tenters have ever had. Huge boulders "grew" around a very large campsite well below the road. Gravel paths led to campsites as well as to the pristine lake, benches set above the lake and overlooking...More
