Despite the damage caused by the fire the hills are so gorgeous in winter. Seeing the snow-covered Rock speak out through the trees even in the devastated areas was simply gorgeous. If you've never been out here in Winter I highly recommend it.

There are many small sights throughout the forest so it's well worth a slow drive to take them all in.

We actually talked about moving to South Dakota after our visit. It is the most beautiful place. Perfect for nature observation and reflecting or just for a walk to clear your head.
