Driving on Pinnacles Road is unique but a bit tight in spots so would not recommend any large vehicle like a bounder or such.

We loved the views from this highway on our family vacation. There are great places to stop, enjoy the view, and get some photos. It's a great way to approach Sylvan Lake.

Another 'must do' place in the Black Hills. On Needles Highway, this was our second visit and again, in awe of this amazing place. Have plenty of water and food and take time to explore the area available. The rock formations and landscape are out of this world. Highly Recommend to see this area. My most favourite place in the... More

Driving through The Needles you could hear ahhhs and woos the whole time. Not a tour for large or wide vehicles as the eye of the Needle is quite narrow!

If you are in the area of Custer State Park, definitely take a trip to drive this route. If you are driving a large vehicle you will definitely have white knuckles at the end of your drive. :-)

Once you are there you’ll realize why it is fantastic, if you’re luck you may see some mountain goats around, but be careful the coming cars, so move slowly with horn, turn around and go again. The mountains around like the needle. Along the way, you’ll pass some others like Iron Creek tunnel and others with no name.

Custer state Park is one of my favorite places in the u.s. This attraction is one of many beautiful attractions in this area. The road is quite narrow with natural stone tunnels that may not accommodate R.V.'s that have a very high profile.

Plan on taking your time driving the Needles Highway. Take advantage of the pull outs to park so that the driver can enjoy the views also! Be aware of pedestrians in and near the pull outs also.

Spectacular views and sites that are ideal for photographers of all levels. Just plan to take your time and drive slow. Some of the views are a bit challenging as you go up the mountain and down narrow roadways.
